AMU get improved ranks in India Today Best College Survey

 Engineering and Mass Communication studies at AMU get improved ranks in India Today Best College Survey

ALIGARH June 29: Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University has been ranked 22nd in the country among all engineering colleges by India Today Best Colleges of India Survey 2024, carried out in association with MDRA.

This year, the ZHCET has made a jump of two places higher than its 24th rank in 2023. It has obtained a Total Score (TS) of 1411.5 out of 2000 (an improved score from 1404.6 in 2023).

Similarly, the Department of Mass Communication has got an overall rank of 21 in the country (having jumped up two places compared to its 23rd rank in 2023). It has obtained TS of 1133.4 out of 2000 (with an improvement compared to its TS of 1123.2 in 2023).

The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College succeeded in retaining its 17th position in the country which it got in 2023. It has obtained a score of 1451.7 out of 2000.

Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College and the Department of Architecture have also retained their respective positions of 8 and 9, with overall score of 1572 and 1397.4 out of 2000.

The Faculty of Law got an overall rank 14th in the country with TS of 1407.6, while the Department of Social Work has got an overall rank 14th with a score of 1342.6 out of 2000.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Naima Khatoon congratulated the university fraternity for the remarkable ranking results for the university departments and colleges.

She added, “The India Today’s Best Colleges’ rankings for AMU represent the excellent and extensive work of our faculty members, staff and students in advancing knowledge and discovery. These rankings are a testimony of their hard work and sincerity to taking the University to new heights”.

Prof. M. Salim Beg, Chairman, Committee for Ranking of the University, said that during the ranking of colleges, MDRA has carefully attuned 112+ attributes across each of the streams to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparison of colleges. These performance indicators were clubbed into 5 broad parameters, i.e. Intake Quality and Governance (IQG), Academic Excellence (ACE), Infrastructure and Living Experience (ILE), Personality and Leadership Development (PLD) and Career Progression and Placement (PCP).

In addition to above, Objective Score (OS) and Perception Score (PS) have also been separately calculated for each discipline of the respective college being considered, thus calculating a total score out of 2000 which is a pointer to the overall rank, he added.
