 विमेंस कॉलेज स्विमिंग पूल में तैराकी गतिविधियों का शुभारंभ

अलीगढ़, 15 मईः अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय की कुलपति प्रो. नईमा खातून ने विमेंस कॉलेज के स्विमिंग पूल में तैराकी गतिविधियों के औपचारिक शुभारंभ के अवसर पर कहा कि यह सुविधा महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण, आत्मविश्वास और आत्मनिर्भरता की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।
प्रो. नईमा खातून ने कहा कि तैराकी सीखने से आत्मविश्वास बढ़ता है, जो जीवन के हर क्षेत्र में अत्यंत आवश्यक है। उन्होंने कहा कि ओलंपिक आकार के इस स्विमिंग पूल को छात्राओं को सुरक्षित वातावरण में अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर की सुविधाएँ उपलब्ध कराने के उद्देश्य से विकसित किया गया है।
उन्होंने शेख अब्दुल्ला (पापा मियाँ) के स्वप्न का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि वे चाहते थे कि लड़कियाँ भी ब्रिटेन के विद्यार्थियों की तरह तैराकी सीखें। आज इस सुविधा में तैराकी गतिविधियों के शुरू होने के साथ उनका सपना सचमुच साकार हुआ है।
कुलपति ने तैराकी के शारीरिक, मानसिक और शैक्षणिक लाभों पर प्रकाश डालते हुए कहा कि इससे तनाव, चिंता और अवसाद में कमी आती है तथा शारीरिक फिटनेस और एकाग्रता में सुधार होता है। उन्होंने शिक्षकों और छात्राओं से तैराकी गतिविधियों में सक्रिय भागीदारी का आह्वान करते हुए इस सुविधा को निरंतर संचालित रखने पर बल दिया।
सह कुलपति प्रो. मोहम्मद मोहसिन खान ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि तैराकी केवल एक महत्वपूर्ण खेल ही नहीं, बल्कि जीवन कौशल भी है, जो शारीरिक स्वास्थ्य और मानसिक संतुलन को मजबूत करता है। उन्होंने छात्राओं के लिए तैराकी गतिविधियों को पुनः प्रारंभ कराने हेतु विश्वविद्यालय प्रशासन और महिला कॉलेज प्रशासन के प्रयासों की सराहना की।
मानद अतिथि वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधीक्षक की धर्म पत्नी प्रतीक्षा सिंह जादौंन ने इस पहल को छात्राओं के शारीरिक और मानसिक स्वास्थ्य के लिए अत्यंत लाभकारी बताते हुए कहा कि तैराकी जैसे खेल और फिटनेस कार्यक्रम युवा महिलाओं में आत्मविश्वास, अनुशासन और स्वस्थ जीवनशैली विकसित करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं।
विमेंस कॉलेज के प्राचार्य प्रो. मसूद अनवर अलवी ने कुलपति का आभार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि तैराकी छात्रों में अनुशासन, धैर्य, आत्मविश्वास और बौद्धिक विकास को प्रोत्साहित करती है।

एएमयू के जेएनएमसी में जटिल मूत्रवाहिनी आघात का पहला मिनिमली इनवेसिव बोआरी फ्लैप ऑपरेशन सफल

अलीगढ़, 15 मईः अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के जवाहरलाल नेहरू मेडिकल कॉलेज के चिकित्सकों ने जनन-मूत्र संबंधी तपेदिक (जेनिटोयूरिनरी ट्यूबरकुलोसिस) से जुड़ी गंभीर निचली यूरेटर आघात से पीड़ित 26 वर्षीय महिला का दुर्लभ मिनिमली इनवेसिव रिकंस्ट्रक्टिव ऑपरेशन को सफलतापूर्वक अंजाम दिया है।
रोगी को मूत्र क्रिया को प्रभावित करने वाली जटिल डिस्टल यूरेटर चोट के साथ भर्ती कराया गया था। विस्तृत जांच के बाद चिकित्सकों ने जनन-मूत्र संबंधी तपेदिक की भी पुष्टि की, जिससे मामला और अधिक चुनौतीपूर्ण हो गया।
ऑपरेशन से पहले मेडिकल चिकित्सकों की टीम ने रोगी को एंटी-ट्यूबरकुलर उपचार दिया तथा गुर्दे से मूत्र निकासी को सुचारु बनाए रखने के लिए परक्यूटेनियस नेफ्रोस्टॉमी ट्यूब लगाई। लगभग दो महीने के उपचार के बाद रोगी का सफल ऑपरेशन किया गया।
यह शल्य प्रक्रिया सर्जरी विभाग के अध्यक्ष प्रो. अतिया जका उर रब के मार्गदर्शन में डॉ. परवेज आलम के नेतृत्व वाली टीम द्वारा की गई। चिकित्सकों ने मिनिमली इनवेसिव बोआरी फ्लैप रिपेयर के साथ श्वार्ज हिच तकनीक का उपयोग करते हुए मूत्राशय के फ्लैप से क्षतिग्रस्त डिस्टल यूरेटर के लगभग 10 से 12 सेंटीमीटर हिस्से का पुनर्निर्माण किया। डा. आलम ने बताया कि यूरीटर वह पतली नली होती है जो किडनी से पेशाब का ेमूत्राशय तक पहुंचाती है और जब किसी आपरेशन, दुर्घना, संक्रमण या अन्य कारण से इस नली में कट, छेद या नुकसान हो जाए तो यूरेटिक आघात कहते हैं।
डॉ. परवेज आलम ने बताया कि यह जेएनएमसी में किया गया पहला मिनिमली इनवेसिव बोआरी फ्लैप रिकंस्ट्रक्शन ऑपरेशन है, जो संस्थान में मिनिमली इनवेसिव यूरोलॉजिकल रिकंस्ट्रक्टिव सर्जरी के क्षेत्र में एक महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि है।

Four students of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), have been selected for the prestigious Rupa Rahul Bajaj Scholarship for Women in Engineering, an initiative of Bajaj Auto Ltd. aimed at empowering meritorious women pursuing engineering education in core technical disciplines.

The scholarship program provides financial assistance of up to ₹8 lakhs over four years, along with industry exposure, mentorship opportunities, life skills training, and exposure to new-age manufacturing technologies. The initiative seeks to strengthen the participation of women professionals in India’s manufacturing and allied sectors.

जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया (JMI) के इंजीनियरिंग एवं प्रौद्योगिकी संकाय की चार छात्राओं का चयन प्रतिष्ठित 'रूपा राहुल बजाज छात्रवृत्ति' (स्कॉलरशिप फॉर वीमेन इन इंजीनियरिंग) के लिए किया गया है। यह छात्रवृत्ति बजाज ऑटो लिमिटेड की एक पहल है, जिसका उद्देश्य मुख्य तकनीकी विषयों में इंजीनियरिंग की शिक्षा प्राप्त कर रही मेधावी छात्राओं को सशक्त बनाना है।

 Dr. Masarrat Shikoh Son of AMU Alumna Mr.Syed Husain Waheed to Establish AI Research Lab at ZHCET

Aligarh, May 14: In a remarkable example of the enduring spirit of alumni giving back to their alma mater, Aligarh Muslim University has announced the establishment of a dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Laboratory at the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET). The initiative has been made possible through a generous donation of Rs 34 lakh by AMU alumna Dr Masarrat Shikoh (Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia), whose son, Mr. Syed Mohammad Waheed, has conceived and founded the lab.

Mr. Waheed, a recognized global AI Ambassador and published AI Ethics author, has previously served as an AI Research Officer in a UK Government AI project and will act as the Founder and Strategic Advisor of the laboratory. Deeply connected to AMU through generations of family association, he envisioned the lab as a platform to strengthen AI research, innovation, and responsible AI governance at the University.

The AI Lab, to be established in the Department of Computer Engineering, will focus on applied AI research, Generative AI, AI Agents, Agentic AI systems, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and ethical AI frameworks, while also promoting industry-academia collaborations and advanced student training.

The formal announcement ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor of AMU, Prof. Naima Khatoon, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Mohsin Khan, Registrar Prof. Aasim Zafar, Controller of Examinations Dr. Mujeeb Ullah Zuberi, Proctor Prof. Mohammed Naved Khan, Finance Officer Mr. Noorus Salaam, and alumnus Syed Husain Waheed, father of Mr. Waheed.

Appreciating the initiative, Prof. Naima Khatoon said that the contribution reflects the deep emotional bond AMU alumni continue to share with the university. She observed that such initiatives not only strengthen academic infrastructure but also inspire future generations to contribute towards knowledge creation and nation-building.

Mr. Waheed stated that the initiative aims to ensure that institutions like AMU emerge as active contributors to the rapidly evolving global AI ecosystem. He added that the lab would help nurture talent, encourage ethical AI research, and prepare students for the transformative future of intelligent technologies.

अलीगढ़, 14 मईः अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के अहमदी स्कूल फॉर द विजुअली चैलेंज्ड में ‘स्टूडेंट वेलबीइंग सीरीज - माइंड मैटर्स’ के अंतर्गत एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। यह कार्यक्रम इंक्लूसिव फ्यूचर्स फाउंडेशन, डीन स्टूडेंट्स वेलफेयर कार्यालय, स्टूडेंट्स काउंसलिंग सेंटर तथा एडवांस्ड सेंटर फॉर वीमेन स्टडीज (एसीडब्ल्यूएस), एएमयू के सहयोग से आयोजित किया गया।

मनोविज्ञान विभाग की डा. सारा जावेद एवं डॉ. आसिफ हसन ने संज्ञानात्मक पुनर्वास तथा तनाव प्रबंधन पर संवादात्मक सत्र संचालित किए। वहीं, एसीडब्ल्यूएस की निदेशक प्रो. अजरा मुसावी ने भावनात्मक सशक्तिकरण एवं आत्मविश्वास निर्माण विषय पर समापन व्याख्यान दिया।

इससे पूर्व प्रतिभागियों का स्वागत करते हुए कार्यवाहक प्रधानाचार्य एस. अहतशाम अकबर ने छात्र कल्याण के लिए इस प्रकार की पहलों के महत्व को रेखांकित किया।

कम्युनिटी मेडिसिन विभाग की डॉ. तबस्सुम नवाब और उनकी टीम द्वारा नशा सेवन के दुष्प्रभावों पर आधारित एक नुक्कड़ नाटक भी प्रस्तुत किया गया।

AMU Faculty of Unani Medicine Organises Industrial Visit to Hamdard Laboratories

ALIGARH, May 13: The Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, organised a one-day industrial visit for postgraduate scholars to the manufacturing unit of Hamdard Laboratories under the aegis of the Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (RIED) Cell.

Sponsored by Hamdard Laboratories India, the visit aimed to provide practical exposure to modern pharmaceutical practices in Unani medicine and strengthen industry-academia collaboration. Thirty postgraduate scholars participated in the programme along with faculty members Dr Qazi Zaid Ahmad, Dr Aziz ur Rahman and Dr Sumbul Rahman.

Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Prof S. M. Ashraf encouraged the scholars to actively engage with experts and understand the growing integration of traditional medicine with modern industrial practices.

At the Hamdard facility, the delegation was welcomed by Mr Inam Ali, DGM (HR), and Dr Santosh Kumar Joshi, Senior GM (R&D), who guided participants through the research and manufacturing units. Scholars observed processes related to formulation development, quality control, standardisation and large-scale production of Unani medicines under GMP guidelines.

The visit also included an interactive session with Mr Shamshad Ali, Chief Production and Project Officer, Mr Inam Ali and Dr Santosh Kumar Joshi, who highlighted opportunities in research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the Unani pharmaceutical sector.

The programme was coordinated by Mr Danish, Administrative Officer, with support from Dr Sagheer Ahmad Khan, Manager (R&D) and Dr Arvind Kumar Tripathi, Quality Control Manager.

National Art Exhibition ‘Fragments of Epiphany’ Opens at AMU

ALIGARH, May 13: The National Art Exhibition, “Fragments of Epiphany,” was inaugurated at the Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery, Aligarh Muslim University, bringing together artists, academicians, students and art enthusiasts in a vibrant celebration of contemporary art and creative expression.

AMU Vice Chancellor Prof Naima Khatoon inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of distinguished guests including Vice Chancellor of Sir J. J. School of Art, Architecture and Design, Mumbai, Prof Him Kumar Chatterjee, former AMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Gulrez, Dean, School of Visual Arts, Delhi, Prof Rajan Shripad Fulari, Dea, Faculty of Arts, Prof T.N. Satheesan, Member Incharge, Public Relation Office, Prof Vibha Sharma, University Librarian Prof Nishat Fatima and Deputy Proctor, Prof Iffat Asghar.

The exhibition features artworks in watercolour, aquatint, oil, acrylic, photography, sculpture and installation art, with several interactive and conceptual works attracting visitors. Artists from different parts of the country, including Shrabani Dasgupta, Aswin Sathiyan, Sumit Shrivastava, Harsh Maurya, Rajni Arya, Mohammad Riyaz and Yash Bhopte, are participating in the exhibition.

A major attraction of the inaugural session was a performance art presentation by Faizullah Ahmad. The exhibition will also include performances by Sufi Yazdani and Aryan Pratap Singh, along with panel discussions featuring Bihan Das and Shamim Khan.

The exhibition has been curated under the supervision of Gallery Coordinator Prof Badar Jahan and showcases diverse contemporary artistic practices through paintings, photography, sculpture, installation art and mixed media works.

Prof Badar Jahan said the exhibition was envisioned not only as a display space but also as a platform for artistic exchange, inspiration and creative growth.

जामिया एलुमनाई अफेयर्स ने किया मदर्स डे समारोह आयोजित; पूर्व छात्रों को किया सम्मानित

जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया (JMI) के एलुमनाई अफेयर्स कार्यालय ने 10 मई, 2026 को विश्वविद्यालय के 'मीर तकी मीर हॉल' में एक मदर्स डे कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया। इस कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य मातृत्व को करुणा, त्याग, देखभाल और भावनात्मक दृढ़ता के एक शाश्वत प्रतीक के रूप में प्रतिष्ठित करना और उस पर चिंतन करना था।

 

कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत डॉ. जावेद हसन द्वारा कुरान की भावपूर्ण तिलावत (पाठ) से हुई। डॉ. हसन ने ही पूरी गरिमा के साथ कार्यक्रम का संचालन भी किया, जिससे पूरे आयोजन के दौरान चिंतन और जुड़ाव का माहौल बना रहा।

 

अपने स्वागत भाषण में, एलुमनाई अफेयर्स के डीन, प्रो. आसिफ़ हुसैन ने जामिया के माननीय कुलपति, प्रो. मज़हर आसिफ़ और रजिस्ट्रार, प्रो. मो. महताब आलम रिज़वी को उनके निरंतर समर्थन और प्रोत्साहन के लिए धन्यवाद दिया। उन्होंने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि मातृत्व ही वह नैतिक और भावनात्मक आधार है, जिस पर समाज का पोषण और अस्तित्व टिका होता है। उन्होंने सफ़ा और मरवा की इस्लामी गाथा का स्मरण किया और हज़रत हाजरा के व्यक्तित्व को मातृ-आस्था और दृढ़ता के एक शक्तिशाली प्रतीक के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया।

 

इस कार्यक्रम की शोभा मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में डॉ. ज़ेबा नाज़ ने बढ़ाई। उन्होंने परिवारों और समुदायों के भीतर सामाजिक चेतना, नैतिक मूल्यों और भावनात्मक दृढ़ता को आकार देने में माताओं की भूमिका पर एक विचारोत्तेजक और अत्यंत प्रभावशाली भाषण दिया। अपने स्वयं के अनुभवों और व्यक्तिगत जीवन-यात्रा का ज़िक्र करते हुए, डॉ. नाज़ ने सामाजिक और भौतिक चुनौतियों के बावजूद, अपने भीतर दृढ़ता, आत्मविश्वास और बौद्धिक विकास को पोषित करने में अपनी माँ के शांत, किंतु परिवर्तनकारी प्रभाव पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने एलुमनाई अफेयर्स कार्यालय की भी सराहना की, जिसने एक ऐसे कार्यक्रम की परिकल्पना की, जिसमें सांस्कृतिक अभिव्यक्ति के साथ-साथ सार्थक बौद्धिक और सामाजिक चिंतन का भी सुंदर मेल था।

 

इस समारोह में साहित्यिक और संगीतमय प्रस्तुतियों के साथ-साथ माताओं (जो जामिया की पूर्व छात्राएँ हैं) के सम्मान का कार्यक्रम भी आयोजित किया गया। अज़रा एजाज़ ने माताओं को समर्पित एक हृदयस्पर्शी नज़्म (कविता) प्रस्तुत की, जबकि तबस्सुम हाशमी के संगीतमय प्रदर्शन की दर्शकों ने मुक्तकंठ से सराहना की। डॉ. रखशंदा रूही मेहदी की अफ़साना, जिसका शीर्षक 'हैप्पी मदर्स डे' था, में माँ के स्नेह, यादों और भावनात्मक जुड़ाव का एक मार्मिक चित्रण प्रस्तुत किया गया। धन्यवाद ज्ञापन देते हुए, डॉ. अमीना हुसैन ने धार्मिक और सांस्कृतिक, दोनों ही परंपराओं में मातृत्व के शाश्वत महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला।

 

कार्यक्रम का समापन 'हाई टी' के साथ हुआ, जिसमें संकाय सदस्य, पूर्व छात्र, विद्यार्थी और आमंत्रित अतिथि शामिल हुए; इसने सभी को आपस में बातचीत करने, चिंतन करने और सामुदायिक जुड़ाव का अवसर प्रदान किया।

JMI Alumni Affairs Hosts Mother’s Day Celebration; Honours Alumni

The Office of Alumni Affairs, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), organized a Mother’s Day programme on May 10, 2026 at the university's Mir Taqi Mir Hall to celebrate and reflect upon motherhood as an enduring symbol of compassion, sacrifice, care, and emotional resilience.

 

The programme commenced with a soulful Tilawat-e-Quran by Dr. Jawaid Hassan, who also compered the event with grace, creating an atmosphere of reflection and engagement throughout the proceedings.

 

In his welcome address, Prof. Asif Husain, Dean, Alumni Affairs, thanked the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JMI, Prof Mazhar Asif and the esteemed Registrar, JMI, Prof Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi for their continued support and encouragement. He emphasized that motherhood constitutes the ethical and emotional foundation upon which societies are nurtured and sustained.  He recalled the Islamic narrative of Safa and Marwa and reflected upon the figure of  Hazrat Hajra as a powerful symbol of maternal faith, and resilience.

 

The programme was graced by Dr. Zeba Naz, as the chief guest, who delivered a thought-provoking and deeply engaging address on the role of mothers in shaping social consciousness, ethical values, and emotional resilience within families and communities. Drawing upon her own lived experiences and personal journey, Dr. Naz reflected upon the quiet yet transformative influence of her mother in nurturing perseverance, self-belief, and intellectual growth despite social and material challenges. She also appreciated the Office of Alumni Affairs for conceptualizing a programme that combined cultural expression with meaningful intellectual and social reflection.

 

The celebration featured a felicitation ceremony of  mothers (JMI alumni) alongside literary and musical presentations. Azra Aijaz recited a heartfelt nazm dedicated to mothers, while Tabassum Hashmi’s musical performance was warmly appreciated by the audience. Dr. Rakhshanda Roohi Mehdi’s afsana, titled Happy Mother’s Day, offered a poignant portrayal of maternal affection, memory, and emotional belonging.Delivering the Vote of Thanks, Dr. Amina Hussain reflected upon the unceasing significance of motherhood within both religious and cultural traditions.

 

The programme concluded with a high tea attended by faculty members, alumni, students, and invited guests, providing an opportunity for interaction, reflection, and community engagement.
