AMU Architecture Scholars Earn Praise at University of Cambridge

ALIGARH, July 28: Bringing laurels to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), PhD scholars and faculty members from the Department of Architecture represented the University at the prestigious Gulf Research Meeting (GRM) 2026, held at King's College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, from July 20 to 23.

PhD scholars Abhishek Bhardwaj and Zainab Rao presented their research paper titled "Vertical Rivalries: High-Rise Skyline Competition between the Cities of Riyadh and Dubai." The study was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Mohammad Farhan Fazli and Prof. Mohd Khalid Hassan of the Department of Architecture, AMU.

The research received widespread appreciation from the workshop directors, Prof. Gerd Nonneman and Dr.GülnarEskandar, who praised its originality and contemporary relevance. The study explores the changing urban competition between Gulf cities through the growth of high-rise buildings and the transformation of their skylines.

The research paper has been accepted for publication in a reputed international journal. The achievement highlights the Department of Architecture's growing international academic presence and its commitment to promoting high-quality research.

ALIGARH, July 30: Prof. Farhan Ahmad Khan, Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been selected as an Examiner at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM), Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom, marking a significant international recognition of his academic excellence and expertise in pharmaceutical medicine.

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine is the professional membership body responsible for setting and maintaining the highest standards in the specialty of pharmaceutical medicine in the United Kingdom. As an Examiner, Dr. Khan will contribute to the assessment and maintenance of professional standards for physicians specializing in medicines development and pharmaceutical medicine.

Congratulating Dr. Khan, Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, said that the appointment is a matter of pride for the department and the university.

It may be noted that both Dr. Farhan A. Khan and Dr. Syed Ziaur Rahman are Fellows of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM), Royal College of Physicians.

एएमयू गर्ल्स स्कूल की छात्रा कुलसुम ने प्रतिष्ठित एएफएस वैश्विक विज्ञान                                                                                                                                   नवाचार के लिये चयनित

अलीगढ़, 30 जुलाईः अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के गर्ल्स स्कूल की नवीं कक्षा की छात्रा कुलसुम का चयन प्रतिष्ठित एएफएस वैश्विक विज्ञान नवाचार कार्यक्रम के लिए हुआ है। यह एक अत्यंत प्रतिस्पर्धी कार्यक्रम था, जिसमें देशभर के प्रतिभाशाली युवा नवाचारकर्ताओं का चयन किया जाता है।

पुणे स्थित फ्लेम विश्वविद्यालय में आयोजित इस कार्यक्रम का मुख्य विषय विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी, अभियांत्रिकी और गणित शिक्षा, सतत विकास, नवाचार, नेतृत्व तथा वैश्विक नागरिकता था। कार्यक्रम के दौरान कुलसुम ने विभिन्न संवादात्मक सत्रों में भाग लिया और देश के अलग-अलग हिस्सों से आए विद्यार्थियों, विशेषज्ञों और मार्गदर्शकों के साथ मिलकर कार्य किया। इस दौरान उन्हें नई सोच, आधुनिक विचारों और वैश्विक दृष्टिकोण को समझने का अवसर मिला।

कुलसुम की इस उपलब्धि पर गर्ल्स स्कूल की प्रधानाचार्या आमना मलिक ने उन्हें बधाई देते हुए कहा कि यह स्कूल और एएमयू दोनों के लिए गर्व का विषय है। उपप्रधानाचार्या अलका अग्रवाल ने उनकी मेहनत और लगन की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि उनकी सफलता अन्य छात्राओं, विशेषकर छात्राओं को राष्ट्रीय और अंतरराष्ट्रीय शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रमों में भाग लेने के लिए प्रेरित करेगी।

अंग्रेजी शिक्षिका एवं मार्गदर्शक बुशरा किरमानी ने भी कुलसुम की उपलब्धि पर प्रसन्नता व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि उनकी ईमानदारी, जिज्ञासा और दृढ़ संकल्प ने उन्हें यह सम्मान दिलाया है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह सफलता निरंतर मार्गदर्शन, कड़ी मेहनत और नई चीजें सीखने की इच्छा का परिणाम है।

कुलसुम ने अपनी इस उपलब्धि का श्रेय अपने शिक्षकों, मार्गदर्शकों, परिवारजनों को दिया है। कुलसुम ने कह है कि इनके निरंतर प्रोत्साहन और सहयोग ने ही उसे इस मुकाम तक पहुँचने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई।

ALIGARH, July 30: The Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (RIED) Cell, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized an invited lecture today on "From Farm to Formulation: The Role of Plant Protection in Standardization and Quality Assurance of Medicinal Plants."

Prof. Syeda Aamena Naaz introduced the guest speaker, Prof. Mohammed Mahmood, Department of Plant Protection, Qassim University, Saudi Arabia, who delivered the lecture. Prof. Mahmood highlighted the critical role of plant protection in ensuring the quality, efficacy, and safety of medicinal plants, particularly in Unani medicine, and stressed that scientific plant protection practices are essential for standardized herbal formulations. He encouraged students and young researchers to integrate agricultural sciences with pharmaceutical research for developing safe and quality-assured herbal products.

The lecture drew enthusiastic participation from faculty, research scholars, and students, who engaged actively during the question-and-answer session.

Prof. S. M. Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, appreciated the lecture and commended Prof. Mahmood for sharing his expertise, noting that such interactions strengthen research and interdisciplinary collaboration.

A major highlight of the event was the release of the Faculty's research journal, Unani Medicus, Volume 9, Issue 1, attended by Editorial Board members Prof. Tanzeel Ahmad, Dr. Ammar Ibne Anwar, Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, Dr. Arshi Riaz, and Dr. Sumbul Rehman.

Prof. Zamir Ahmad proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by Dr.Abiha Ahmad Khan.

अलीगढ़, 29 जुलाईः अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय ने गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा के लिए आधारभूत सुविधाओं के निरंतर विस्तार की दिशा में एक और महत्वपूर्ण कदम उठाते हुए चार प्रमुख संकायों में नवनिर्मित आठ कक्षाओं का उद्घाटन किया। इन कक्षाओं के शुरू होने से विश्वविद्यालय की शिक्षण क्षमता में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि होगी तथा लगभग 800 विद्यार्थियों के बैठने की अतिरिक्त व्यवस्था उपलब्ध हो गई है।

इन कक्षाओं का उद्घाटन कुलपति प्रो. नइमा खातून ने सहकुलपति प्रो. मोहम्मद मोहसिन खान, कुलसचिव प्रो. आसिम जफर, भवन विभाग के प्रभारी प्रो. मलिक शोएब अहमद तथा विश्वविद्यालय अभियंता प्रो. इजहारुल हक फारूकी की उपस्थिति में किया।

कला एवं सामाजिक विज्ञान संकाय के लिए निर्मित चार कक्षाओं के उद्घाटन समारोह में कला संकाय के अधिष्ठाता प्रो. मोहम्मद रिजवान खान तथा सामाजिक विज्ञान संकाय के अधिष्ठाता प्रो. इकराम हुसैन उपस्थित रहे। वहीं विज्ञान एवं जीवन विज्ञान संकाय के लिए तैयार चार नई कक्षाओं के उद्घाटन के अवसर पर विज्ञान संकाय के अधिष्ठाता प्रो. सरताज तबस्सुम तथा जीवन विज्ञान संकाय के अधिष्ठाता प्रो. नफीस अहमद खान भी मौजूद रहे।

इस अवसर पर कुलपति प्रो. नइमा खातून ने कहा कि शिक्षण, अध्ययन और शोध के लिए बेहतर वातावरण उपलब्ध कराना विश्वविद्यालय की प्राथमिकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि एएमयू में लगातार नए शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रम शुरू हो रहे हैं और विद्यार्थियों की संख्या भी बढ़ रही है। ऐसे में आधुनिक शैक्षणिक सुविधाओं का विकास आवश्यक है, ताकि विद्यार्थियों को बेहतर और अनुकूल शैक्षणिक वातावरण मिल सके।

प्रत्येक कक्षा में 100 विद्यार्थियों के बैठने की व्यवस्था है। इस प्रकार आठ नई कक्षाओं के निर्माण से कुल 800 विद्यार्थियों के लिए अतिरिक्त बैठने की सुविधा उपलब्ध हो गई है। इससे कला, सामाजिक विज्ञान, विज्ञान और जीवन विज्ञान संकायों में कक्षाओं के संचालन में सुविधा होगी तथा पहले से उपलब्ध कक्षाओं पर दबाव भी कम होगा।

उद्घाटन समारोह के दौरान नव निर्मित कक्षाओं के आसपास पौधारोपण भी किया गया। इस अवसर पर विश्वविद्यालय के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, शिक्षक तथा अन्य पदाधिकारी भी उपस्थित रहे।

विश्वविद्यालय प्रशासन के अनुसार, इन नई कक्षाओं के शुरू होने से शिक्षण व्यवस्था और अधिक सुचारु होगी तथा आधुनिक और नवाचार आधारित शिक्षण पद्धतियों को बढ़ावा मिलने के साथ विद्यार्थियों को बेहतर शैक्षणिक सुविधाएं उपलब्ध होंगी।

Aligarh, July 28: Reaffirming its long-standing commitment to environmental conservation and its rich tradition of maintaining one of the country's most verdant residential campuses, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) inaugurated the 'Van Mahotsav' Plantation Drive under the national campaign "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" near A-Type Quarters, Medical Colony.

The plantation drive was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon, in the presence of Prof. Mohd. Mohsin Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Aasim Zafar, Registrar; and Shri Shivam Kumar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Aligarh, who attended as Guest of Honour.

Organised by the Department of Land & Gardens, the initiative reflected AMU's sustained efforts to preserve its lush green environment while sensitising students, faculty members, employees, and residents towards environmental stewardship. The University's sprawling residential campus has long been recognised for its extensive tree cover, landscaped avenues, and eco-friendly initiatives that promote a clean, healthy, and sustainable living environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Naima Khatoon said, "Every sapling planted today is a commitment to future generations. AMU has always cherished its green legacy, and through such initiatives we aim to inspire our students and residents to become responsible custodians of nature."

Prof. Mohd. Mohsin Khan, remarked, "A green campus nurtures not only biodiversity but also healthier minds and communities. This plantation drive reflects AMU's collective responsibility towards environmental sustainability."

Prof. Aasim Zafar, observed, "This initiative strengthen our vision of maintaining a clean, green and environmentally conscious residential campus. Every member of the AMU fraternity has a role in protecting this invaluable heritage."

Shri Shivam Kumar, appreciated the University's sustained environmental efforts and said, "AMU has set an excellent example by integrating environmental awareness with community participation. Such plantation drives significantly contribute to ecological conservation and inspire society at large."

Member In-Charge, Department of Land & Gardens, Prof. Anwar Shahzad, informed that 43 dignitaries planted a wide variety of indigenous, medicinal, and fruit-bearing saplings, including Mahua, Kaitha, Neem, Mango, Guava, Bael, Jamun, Shahtoot, Amaltas, Gular, Arjun, Tamarind, and Fig (Anjeer). The plantation was aimed at further enriching AMU's rich green cover, enhancing biodiversity, and reinforcing the University's long-standing commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable campus development.

Senior University functionaries, faculty members, and officers also participated in the plantation drive by planting saplings, reaffirming their collective commitment to preserving AMU's legacy as a clean, green, and environmentally conscious residential campus.,

एएमयू के छात्रों ने सिंगापुर में प्रतिष्ठित एशियन अंडरग्रेजुएट संगोष्ठी में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया

            अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के आठ विद्यार्थियों ने सिंगापुर में नेशनल यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ सिंगापुर और आसियान यूनिवर्सिटी नेटवर्क द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से आयोजित प्रतिष्ठित एशियन अंडरग्रेजुएट सिम्पोजियम (एयूएस) 2026 में विश्वविद्यालय और भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया।

‘कम्युनिटीज इन एक्शन’ विषय पर आयोजित इस अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगोष्ठी में भारत, सिंगापुर, जापान, दक्षिण कोरिया और चीन सहित एशिया के प्रमुख विश्वविद्यालयों के लगभग 300 स्नातक विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया। विचार-विमर्श और अंतर-सांस्कृतिक संवाद के माध्यम से प्रतिभागियों ने सतत विकास, विरासत संरक्षण, समावेशिता तथा सामुदायिक सुदृढ़ता से जुड़े विषयों पर नवाचारी समाधान प्रस्तुत किए।

एएमयू के प्रतिनिधिमंडल में अब्दुल्ला जैदी और मोहम्मद अमान (बी.टेक. आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस), सैयद मुनीर हुसैन काजमी (बी.टेक. कंप्यूटर साइंस), रितेश शर्मा (बी.टेक. ऑटोमोबाइल इंजीनियरिंग), मरियम हाशमी और मोहम्मद कासिम (बी.एससी. सांख्यिकी), अनस पोक्कोडन (बी.ए. समाजशास्त्र) तथा वर्षा माथुर (बी.ए. अंग्रेजी) शामिल थे।

संगोष्ठी में एएमयू के लिए विशेष उपलब्धि यह रही कि शीर्ष 30 परियोजना प्रस्तावों में चयनित भारत की केवल तीन टीमों में से दो टीमें एएमयू की थीं।

पहली परियोजना ‘सेफ स्ट्रेज’ का नेतृत्व रितेश शर्मा ने किया, जिसमें अब्दुल्ला जैदी, मरियम हाशमी और वर्षा माथुर शामिल थीं। इस परियोजना में पशुओं और वाहनों की टक्कर की घटनाओं को कम करने के लिए सामुदायिक भागीदारी पर आधारित रणनीति प्रस्तुत की गई। दूसरी परियोजना ‘अन्वेषा’ का नेतृत्व मोहम्मद अमान ने किया, जिसमें अनस पोक्कोडन और मोहम्मद कासिम शामिल थे। इस परियोजना में उत्तर प्रदेश की पारंपरिक सांझी कला के संरक्षण के लिए शिल्पकारों, समुदायों, गैर-सरकारी संगठनों और युवा स्वयंसेवकों को जोड़ने वाला एक डिजिटल मंच प्रस्तावित किया गया। सैयद मुनीर हुसैन काजमी ने भी एक अन्य टीम के साथ योगदान दिया, जिसकी परियोजना का प्रदर्शन संगोष्ठी के समापन समारोह में किया गया।

‘सेफ स्ट्रेज’ और ‘अन्वेषा’ दोनों परियोजनियां अगले चरण के मूल्यांकन के लिए चयनित हुई हैं। चयनित टीमें जुलाई के अंत तक विस्तृत परियोजना प्रस्ताव प्रस्तुत करेंगी, जिसके बाद अधिकतम 15 परियोजनाओं को उनके क्रियान्वयन के लिए 5 हजार सिंगापुर डॉलर का अनुदान प्रदान किया जाएगा।

एएमयू की कुलपति प्रो. नइमा खातून ने विद्यार्थियों को बधाई देते हुए कहा कि उन्होंने नवाचार और सामाजिक प्रतिबद्धता के माध्यम से विश्वविद्यालय को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर गौरवान्वित किया है।
