Aligarh, September 12: A team consisting of Dr Shailendra Bhatnagar, Additional Director/State TB Officer, State TB Cell, Medical and Health Directorate, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Hari Bhan Singh, In-charge, National Reference Laboratory and Head, Department of Epidemiology, JALMA, Agra, Dr. Praveen Kumar Pachouri, Microbiologist, NRL-JALMA, Agra, Dr. A. K. Awasthi, Microbiologist, IRL, Dr. Rahul Sharma, District Tuberculosis Officer and Dr. Sultana Ansar, WHO Consultant visited the Departments of Microbiology, and TB and respiratory diseases, JN Medical College and Hospital (JNMCH), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) recently.
Dr. Bhatnagar and other team members also called on the AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Naima Khatoon and briefed her about the activities and future plans of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program-NTEP-Diagnostic Network- UP.
The team praised the Tuberculosis Laboratory of the Department of Microbiology, for its smooth and competent functioning. Dr. Bhatnagar also commended the efforts of the Departments of Microbiology and TB and Respiratory Disease in providing efficient care, diagnosis, and treatment to TB patients in Aligarh and surrounding eight districts.
A consultative meeting of the Chairpersons of various Departments, nodal officers T.B. and Dr. Shailendra Bhatnagar, and the team was also held under the supervision of Prof. Mohammad Shameem, Chairperson, Department of TB and Respiratory Diseases.
The State TB Officer appreciated that JNMCH is providing all the investigations free of cost to the MDR-TB patients.
