Prof. Shaheen Appointed Chairperson of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at JNMC
ALIGARH, October 10: Prof. Shaheen, Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been appointed Chairperson of the department for a period of three years, with effect from October 10, 2026.
Prof. Shaheen has over 26 years of teaching experience and has been serving as a Professor since May 2016. She is also In-charge of the Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) Unit and Convener and Nodal Officer of the ART Unit and Training Centre project sanctioned by the Government of India.
Her academic and research work focuses on reproductive medicine, emergency obstetrics and minimally invasive surgery. She has published 42 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals, co-edited a book and contributed seven chapters to books. She has also supervised or co-supervised 26 postgraduate dissertations and delivered numerous invited lectures.
Prof. Shaheen has received academic recognition for her research, including work on maternal outcomes following magnesium sulphate therapy for eclampsia, which was included in the 25th edition of Williams Obstetrics. She has also served as Provost of Sarojini Naidu Hall, AMU, from 2020 to 2023.
