Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) commemorated 54th Death Anniversary of Late Dr. Zakir Husain, former President of India and former Chancellor& Vice Chancellor of JMI today.
Students of the Jamia schools, university students, teachers, non-teaching staff of the university and family members of Late Dr. Zakir Husain visited his mausoleum situated on the university campus and paid floral tributes to him. A special prayer meet was also organised there to pay homage to him.
On this occasion JMI Vice Chancellor Prof Najma Akhtar said “His great services and noble contributions to this university are inestimable. He was a great freedom fighter, educationist, economist and an intellectual par excellence. He was a Bharat Ratna recipient who raised the stature of JMI by virtue of the intensity of his rare vision, remarkable conviction and profound interest in the welfare of the university, community and nation”.
