FAAA Announces New Leadership: AMU Alumni Continue Legacy of Service and Global Impact
Aligarh, August 25: The Federation of Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Associations (FAAA) has announced the appointment of Mr. Afzal Usmani as its new President, effective immediately. A distinguished alumnus of AMU and a community leader, Mr. Usmani also serves as the President of the Aligarh Alumni Association, Washington, DC, for the 2025–2026 term. With a career marked by professional excellence and philanthropic commitment, he embodies the values of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and the spirit of the AMU community.
Mr. Usmani expressed his gratitude on assuming charge: 'I am honored to serve as President of the Federation.' AMU has given us all a strong foundation of knowledge and character. This is our time to give back—by supporting our alma mater, uplifting our community, and ensuring that the legacy of Sir Syed thrives through the collective efforts of alumni associations across North America.
Under his leadership, FAAA plans to launch several new initiatives, including youth engagement programs, mentorship opportunities, standardized scholarship schemes, digital outreach, and closer coordination with AMU authorities. His vision emphasizes not only promoting alumni unity across the United States and Canada but also expanding opportunities for AMU students through scholarships and academic collaborations.
FAAA also acknowledged the exemplary contributions of the outgoing leadership team. Dr. Naushad Khan Ghilzai (Atlanta), outgoing President, was praised for elevating the Federation to new heights during his tenure. Special thanks were extended to Dr. Shoeb Ahmad (Atlanta), outgoing Secretary, and Mr. Kauser Zaidi (Upstate New York), outgoing Treasurer, for their dedication and service.
The Federation also declared the outcome of its recent Board elections, with all positions filled unanimously, underscoring the spirit of unity and collective commitment within the AMU alumni community. The newly elected members are: Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan (AAAUNY, Albany, New York) as President-elect; Mr. Shah Faisal Khan (AAA Greater Chicago) as Secretary-elect; Mr. Shah Shoaib Faizan (AAA New York) as Treasurer-elect; and Mr. Kauser Usmani (AAA New York) as Member, Board of Trustees.
Extending congratulations, Prof. Sartaj Tabassum, Chairman, AMU Alumni Affairs Committee, remarked: “Mr. Usmani’s dedication to the AMU alumni community is truly commendable. We are confident that under his leadership, the alumni network will continue to grow and strengthen its impact globally.”
FAAA serves as the umbrella organization for AMU Alumni Associations across North America. It is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Aligarh Muslim University, promoting educational advancement, and highlighting unity among AMU alumni worldwide.
