World Breastfeeding Week Celebrated

World Breastfeeding Week Celebrated at College of Nursing
The College of Nursing, Aligarh Muslim University, observed World Breastfeeding Week 2025 with a role play on the importance of breastfeeding, organised by the Department of OBG Nursing in the postnatal wards of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.

Held under the guidance of Prof. Farha Azmi, Principal, College of Nursing, and coordinated by Mrs. J.N. Sonja, Assistant Professor, the event saw active participation of B.Sc. Nursing students of the 7th and 8th semesters (July–December 2025 batch). The students presented role plays highlighting breastfeeding techniques, advantages of breastfeeding, differences between breast milk and cow’s milk, and the health benefits for both mother and child. This year’s theme, “Invest in Breastfeeding, Invest in the Future,” was effectively conveyed through interactive health education sessions.

The programme also included feedback sessions with postnatal mothers to assess knowledge gained through the role play. The initiative was well received by mothers and attendants in the wards, who appreciated the practical demonstrations and awareness activities.

Appreciation was also extended to ANS Mrs. Huma Roohi, Mrs. Rubina Naaz, Tutor, College of Nursing, and the ward in-charges, staff nurses and attendants of Ward 2 and Ward 8 for their cooperation.
