ICACON 2026 Concludes Successfully at AMU
ALIGARH, September 14: The 7th International and 17th National Conference of the Indian College of Anaesthesiologists (ICACON 2026), hosted by the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), concluded after three days of academic, ceremonial and cultural programmes.
The conference began on September 11 with five specialised hands-on workshops covering contemporary anaesthesiology, critical care, airway management and POCUS, regional anaesthesia and obstetric crisis management. The workshops provided participants with practical exposure and strengthened clinical decision-making, technical skills and patient-safety practices.
The main scientific programme began with simultaneous sessions featuring expert lectures, orations, pro-con debates and interactive discussions on emerging areas, including Artificial Intelligence in perioperative medicine and advanced haemodynamic monitoring. Distinguished national and international faculty participated, including Dr Patrick Giam, President, American Society of Anesthesiologists; Dr Fred Shapiro, President, SAMBA; and Dr Kumar G. Belani, International Dean, ICA.
Earlier, the inauguration and convocation ceremony was held on September 12 at the JNMC Auditorium, with AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon as Chief Guest and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohd Mohsin Khan as Guest of Honour.

The convocation featured the distribution of Fellowship certificates (FICA), an oath-taking ceremony and presentation of the M.K. Dey Award. Dr Jayashree Sood, President, ICA, and Dr Baljit Singh, CEO, ICA, also addressed the gathering.
The conference also featured the release of the “Year Book of Anaesthesiology”. Postgraduate award-paper presentations, faculty and postgraduate free-paper sessions, e-poster presentations and an academic quiz were also organised. Winners were honoured during the valedictory function with awards and cash prizes for their research and academic achievements.
Organising Chairman Prof. Hammad Usmani congratulated the organising team for the successful conduct of ICACON 2026. Organizing Secretory ICACON Prof Obaid A Siddiqui proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Arathy Praveenthayyil conducted the programme.
