AMU Engineering Alumni of 1976 Batch Celebrate Golden Jubilee
ALIGARH, September 8: Fifty years after completing their engineering education, alumni of the 1976 batch of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) returned to their alma mater to celebrate their Golden Jubilee. The reunion brought back cherished memories as the alumni revisited the university’s historic buildings, corridors, library and engineering college.
The alumni, who completed their engineering studies in September 1976, came from different cities across the country to mark the 50th anniversary of their graduation. Alumni from Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Delhi, Agra, Mathura, Lucknow, Kota, Indore and Mumbai, among other places, participated in the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
During their visit, they met AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Mohsin Khan and Registrar Prof. Aasim Zafar in a warm and cordial interaction. Prof. Naima Khatoon presented mementoes to the alumni in recognition of their long-standing association with the University.
Interacting with the alumni, Prof. Naima Khatoon briefed them about the present academic environment and various activities at AMU. Recalling the old days, she said the spirit of brotherhood and togetherness that characterised student life during their time continues to remain an important part of the University’s culture. She also spoke about changes brought about by changing times, particularly the influence of Generation Z and social media on society and university life.
Prof. Mohammad Mohsin Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor, AMU, welcomed the alumni back to their alma mater and said that their return after five decades reflected the enduring emotional bond between the University and its alumni. He appreciated their continued association with AMU and encouraged them to share their experiences and professional journeys with present-day students.
Registrar Prof. Aasim Zafar thanked the alumni for returning to their alma mater and encouraged them to continue visiting the University and sharing their experiences with the younger generation.
Representing the alumni, Dr. Manindra Jain expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor and Registrar for the warm welcome and hospitality.
As part of the celebrations, the alumni visited Sir Syed House, Maulana Azad Library and Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET). At ZHCET, they revisited the Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering sections, classrooms and library associated with their student years. They also met the Chairmen of various departments and other officials and shared memories of their time in classrooms, laboratories and across the campus.
The alumni also recalled their old classmates and professional journeys, reflecting on the enduring bond with their alma mater. Dr.Manindra Jain, on behalf of his batchmates, presented a contribution to the University.
Alumni from Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Delhi, Agra, Mathura, Lucknow, Kota, Indore and Mumbai, among other places, participated in the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
50 साल बाद फिर लौटीं यादेंः एएमयू में गोल्डन जुबली मनाने पहुंचे 1976 बैच के पूर्व इंजीनियरिंग छात्र
अलीगढ़, 7 सितंबरः समय बीतता गया, बालों में सफेदी उतर आई, जिंदगी ने अपनी राह बदल ली, लेकिन अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम यूनिवर्सिटी का वह कैंपस आज भी 1976 के उन विद्यार्थियों के दिलों में उसी तरह बसा है। सोमवार को 50 वर्ष बाद जब 1976 बैच के इंजीनियरिंग के पूर्व छात्र एएमयू पहुंचे तो मानो वक्त ने फिर करवट ली। पुरानी इमारतें, गलियारे, पुस्तकालय और इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेज को देखकर उनकी आंखों में छात्र जीवन की यादें ताजा हो उठीं और चेहरे पर बरसों पुरानी मुस्कान लौट आई।
7 सितंबर 1976 को इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई पूरी करने वाले पूर्व छात्रों ने वर्ष 2026 में अपने स्वर्ण जयंती वर्ष को यादगार बनाने के लिए अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम यूनिवर्सिटी का दौरा किया। देश के विभिन्न शहरों से आए इन पूर्व छात्रों ने विश्वविद्यालय में अपने पुराने दिनों को याद किया और अपने जीवन के सबसे खूबसूरत अध्याय को एक बार फिर महसूस किया।
इस अवसर पर पूर्व छात्रों की मुलाकात एएमयू की कुलपति प्रोफेसर नइमा खातून, सहकुलपति प्रोफेसर मोहम्मद मोहसिन खान और रजिस्ट्रार, प्रोफेसर असिम ज़फर से हुई। मुलाकात बेहद आत्मीय और सौहार्दपूर्ण माहौल में हुई। विश्वविद्यालय प्रशासन की ओर से पूर्व छात्रों का गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया गया। कुलपति ने सभी पूर्व छात्रों को स्मृति-चिह्न भेंट कर उनके विश्वविद्यालय से जुड़े रिश्ते और योगदान को सम्मान दिया।
कुलपति प्रोफेसर नइमा खातून ने पूर्व छात्रों से बातचीत करते हुए विश्वविद्यालय के वर्तमान माहौल और गतिविधियों की जानकारी साझा की। उन्होंने पुराने दिनों को याद करते हुए कहा कि जिस तरह उनके समय में विद्यार्थी आपसी भाईचारे और मिल-जुलकर रहने की संस्कृति के साथ विश्वविद्यालय में रहते थे, उसी तरह आज भी विश्वविद्यालय में आपसी सौहार्द और अपनापन कायम है।
उन्होंने बदलते दौर और विशेष रूप से जेनरेशन-जी तथा सोशल मीडिया के प्रभाव से समाज और विश्वविद्यालयी जीवन में आए बदलावों पर अपने विचार व्यक्त किए। वहीं प्रोफेसर असिम ज़फर ने पूर्व छात्रों का आभार व्यक्त करते हुए उनसे भविष्य में भी विश्वविद्यालय आते रहने और अपने अनुभवों से नई पीढ़ी को जोड़ने का आग्रह किया।
इस अवसर पर पूर्व छात्रों का प्रतिनिधित्व कर रहे डॉ. मणीन्द्र जैन ने सभी पूर्व छात्रों की ओर से कुलपति, सहकुलपति और रजिस्ट्रार का आभार व्यक्त किया।
गोल्डन जुबली समारोह के दौरान पूर्व छात्रों ने विश्वविद्यालय के सर सैयद हाउस, मौलाना अज़ाद लाईबेरी और इजीनियरिंग कालिज का भी भ्रमण किया। जाकिर हुसैन कॉलेज ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग एंड टेक्नोलॉजी में उन्होंने इलेक्ट्रिकल, मैकेनिकल और सिविल इंजीनियरिंग के कक्षों, लाईबे्ररी आदि चीज़ों को देखा जहां उन्होंने परीक्षाएं उत्तीर्ण कर अपने करियर की नींव रखी थी। इसके अलावा शिक्षकों से भी मुलाकात की।
पूर्व छात्रों ने कॉलेज के चेयरमैन एवं अन्य अधिकारियों से मुलाकात की और अपने छात्र जीवन से जुड़े संस्मरण साझा किए। किसी ने पुराने साथियों को याद किया तो किसी ने कक्षा, प्रयोगशाला और कैंपस में बिताए दिनों की चर्चा की। 50 वर्ष का लंबा अंतराल जैसे कुछ ही पलों में सिमट गया।
इस अवसर पर पूर्व छात्रों का प्रतिनिधित्व कर रहे डॉ. मणीन्द्र जैन ने अपने साथियों की ओर से विश्वविद्यालय के लिए एक छोटी सी राशि भी भेंट की।
गोल्डन जुबली समारोह में शामिल होने के लिए अलीगढ़ के अलावा गाजियाबाद, फरीदाबाद, दिल्ली, आगरा, मथुरा, लखनऊ, कोटा, इंदौर और मुंबई सहित विभिन्न स्थानों से पूर्व छात्र पहुंचे।
