AMU Promotes Innovation and Entrepreneurship to Empower Youth as Nation BuildersALIGARH, September 3: Strengthening its efforts to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership among youth, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) inaugurated “Cultivate”, a new vertical of the AMU-supported student startup Stick, through the Innovation Council and University Incubation Centre (IC & UIC).
The initiative aims to channelise the creativity and entrepreneurial potential of AMU students towards nation-building and encourage them to become job creators rather than job seekers, contributing to the vision of a self-reliant and Viksit Bharat.
Addressing the gathering, AMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon said that nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship among students is vital for preparing them to address emerging global challenges. She encouraged young minds to transform their ideas into innovative solutions and enterprises that can contribute meaningfully to national development.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohd. Mohsin Khan emphasised that entrepreneurship enables youth to transform knowledge and creativity into productive ventures. He said that initiatives such as Cultivate can help develop confidence, problem-solving skills and an entrepreneurial mindset among students from an early stage.
Prof. Mohammad Sajjad Athar, Coordinator, Innovation Council and University Incubation Centre, said that Stick, a social entrepreneurship initiative founded by AMU students, is the first startup supported by AMU through the IC & UIC. It has received recognition and support from institutions including Startup India, StartInUP, University of Delhi and IIT Roorkee.
In his presentation, Mr. Divyank Shandilya, Creative Director, Stick, said that Cultivate is a two-month entrepreneurship bootcamp for school and college students based on experiential learning. It aims through multidisciplinary engagement, in line with the objectives of NEP 2020.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Prof. Ekram Khan, Director, AMU Innovation Foundation, said that theto promote innovation, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication and soft skills initiative strengthens AMU’s vision of empowering youth to innovate, build enterprises and create employment opportunities.
The inaugural edition was jointly launched by Prof. Naima Khatoon and Prof. Mohd. Mohsin Khan along with Prof. Mohammad Sajjad Athar and Prof. Ekram Khan.
The event was attended by Deans, senior Faculty members, university officials, educators, school principals, students and innovation stakeholders.
