AMU Centre Organises ‘Kabad Se Jugad’ Competition to Promote Waste Reuse

ALIGARH, October 27: The Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning (CSD&CP), Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a ‘Kabad Se Jugad’ competition and exhibition under Special Campaign 6.0 – Citizen Awareness Campaign 2026, promoting the theme ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’.

Twenty-five students from the Centre and Women’s College participated in the competition, transforming discarded household materials into useful articles, decorative ornaments and items for interior and exterior decoration. Their creations demonstrated how waste materials can be converted into functional and aesthetically appealing products through creativity and resourcefulness.

Prof. Shagufta Imtiaz, Director, CSD&CP, and Principal, Women’s College, appreciated the students’ efforts and emphasised that waste can be a valuable resource when approached with innovative thinking and responsible practices. She encouraged students to incorporate the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle into their daily lives and become ambassadors of environmental sustainability.

Dr. Samreen Hasan Khan, who coordinated the event, encouraged students to explore the hidden potential of discarded materials through creative thinking. The programme was organised with the support of trainers Ms. Momina Athar and Ms. LubnaGhayas.
