Prof Adam Malik Khan Appointed Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies, AMU
ALIGARH, January 9: Prof Adam Malik Khan of the Department of Islamic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been appointed as Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies for a period beginning January 9, 2026, and extending up to May 10, 2028, the date of his superannuation.
Prof Khan is a senior academic with more than 26 years of teaching and research experience at Aligarh Muslim University. An accomplished scholar, Prof Khan has published several books and research papers in reputed journals and edited volumes. His notable books include works on the development of sciences in Muslim Spain and Islam in Iran. He has also contributed extensively to academic journals in India and abroad and prepared study material for distance education programmes at AMU.
He has successfully supervised a large number of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers on diverse themes, and guided a postdoctoral fellow under a UGC-funded programme for women researchers.
In addition to his academic contributions, Prof Khan has rendered extensive administrative and institutional service to the University. He has served as a Provost of a Hall of Residence, Assistant Proctor and Deputy Proctor, and has held key responsibilities related to examinations, admissions and university-level committees.
