AMU Holds Valedictory Function for BUMS Induction Programme (Batch 2025)
ALIGARH, November 26: The Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, organised the valedictory function of the induction programme for the 2025 batch of BUMS students, marking an important step in their academic journey.
In his presidential remarks, Prof Javaid Akhter, former AMU Registrar, underscored the importance of time management and dedication to the profession.
Chief Guest Prof Mujib Ullah Zuberi, Controller of Examinations, reflected on the moral and ethical responsibilities of the medical profession, reminding students that medicine demands compassion, discipline and integrity.
Guest of Honour Prof Nishat Fatima, Librarian, Maulana Azad Library, encouraged students to make maximum use of the University’s academic resources and congratulated them on choosing Unani medicine as their field of study.
Earlier, Prof S.M. Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, welcomed the guests and presented a detailed report on the 15-day induction schedule. He noted that the programme offered comprehensive sessions on personality development, communication skills, attitudes and conduct, campus behaviour, leadership, goal-setting, the scope of Unani medicine and career avenues.
Principal of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Prof Badrudduja Khan, addressed the students and highlighted the value of the induction programme in shaping their motivation and readiness for professional training.
A total of 38 lectures were delivered by faculty members from various departments, complemented by four motivational talks by national and international speakers. Pre- and post-tests were conducted to assess learning outcomes, with students performing commendably. Visits to Dawakhana Tibbiya College, the Herbal Garden and the Musa Dakri Museum enriched the student experience, while a talent show allowed participants to showcase skills in poetry, poster-making, slogan writing, essay writing, videography, reel-making and debate.
The ceremony, conducted under the supervision of Prof S.M. Safdar Ashraf and attended by Principal and Medical Superintendent Prof Badrudduja Khan, was coordinated by Dr Saba Zaidi, Dr Arshi Riaz, Dr Safiur Rehman and Dr Mohd Shahab.
