AMU Hosts Student Research and Innovation Contest 2.0


ALIGARH, April 4: The IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Centre for Integrated Green and Renewable Energy (CGRE), organised the Student Research and Innovation Contest 2.0 on the theme “Interdisciplinary Approaches to Engineering and Technology.”

Held in hybrid mode, the event was conducted under the patronage of Prof. Nesar Ahmad, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Prof. Mohammad Muzzammil, Principal, ZHCET; and Prof. Yusuf Uzzaman Khan, Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering. The programme was convened by Dr. Safia Akhtar Kazmi, Coordinator, CGRE and Faculty Advisor, IEEE WIE Affinity Group.

The contest witnessed participation from 22 teams comprising around 55 students from various engineering disciplines, out of which 14 teams were shortlisted for the final round following a rigorous screening process.

The paper presentation session was evaluated by Dr. Adil Sarwar, Dr. M. Saad Bin Arif, Dr. Nidal Rafiuddin, Dr. Faisal Jalil and Mr. Mohd Anas Anees, who appreciated the innovative ideas and research efforts of the participants.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Mohammad Muzzammil highlighted the importance of innovation, research and interdisciplinary collaboration in engineering education and encouraged students to actively engage in research-oriented activities.

In the results, Harshit and Ishaan won the Best Paper Award in the Undergraduate category, while Maruja Zaki, Mehvish Fatma and Aira Arif secured the award in the Diploma Engineering category. Three special prizes were also awarded for outstanding physical models.

The event was coordinated by Dr.Qurratulain and Dr. Faizan Khalid along with the student team.
