अलीगढ़, 11 मार्चः अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के दवाखाना तिब्बिया कॉलेज ने आज अपने हर्बल गार्डन के उद्घाटन की घोषणा की, जो पिछड़े एकीकरण और आपूर्ति के अधिक प्रामाणिक स्रोत को सुरक्षित करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है। गार्डन का उद्घाटन एएमयू के रजिस्ट्रार मोहम्मद इमरान (आईपीएस) और दवाखाना तिब्बिया कॉलेज की मेम्बर इंचार्ज प्रोफेसर सलमा अहमद और कार्यवाहक जीएम श्री मोहम्मद शारिक आजम की उपस्थिति में किया गया।
हर्बल गार्डन की स्थापना एक रणनीतिक कदम है जिसका उद्देश्य बाहरी आपूर्तिकर्ताओं पर निर्भरता कम करना और आउटसोर्सिंग से जुड़ी लागत में कटौती करना है। श्री इमरान ने डीटीसी टीम की पहल की सराहना की और उद्घाटन समारोह के दौरान अपना अनुभव साझा किया।

New Dean appointed

Prof Mohd Asif Khan appointed New Dean of Commerce, AMU Aligarh 

Prof Mohd Asif Khan, Department of Commerce has been appointed Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University for a period of two years, with effect from March 11.

Prof Khan is engaged in teaching and research in commerce for over the last 25 years and he has published 3 books, 5 book chapters and more than 35 research papers in the journals of national and international repute.

Besides teaching and research, he has contributed a lot to the university administration as the University Proctor, NRSC Provost, Member AMU Court and member EC. Presently he is serving as the Director, Centre of Professional Courses.

Seminar on Elderly Wellbeing in India held

        Two-day National Seminar on Elderly Wellbeing in India held              Experts and professionals from social defense and social work sectors and faculty members discussed the issues, challenges and prospects in the domain of elderly wellbeing in India in a two-day national Seminar, organised by the Department of Social Work, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), in collaboration with National Institute of Social Defense (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

In his address, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Vice Chancellor, AMU cited the UN report which mentions that the elderly population will be around 20% by the year 2050. He mentioned various issues faced by the elderly population, including Alzheimer's disease, dementia, prostate and orthopedic problems.

Prof Gulrez urged the students and volunteers to work for this social cause and try to resolve the problems faced by the elderly starting from their homes.

The keynote speaker Prof. CP Singh, Kurukshetra University said that different agencies and countries have different age parameters for persons to consider them old or elderly. Discussing various programmes and policies for the elderly by the Government of India, he said it is upon the youth of the country to treat the elderly with utmost respect and empathy.

Prof. Mirza Asmer Beg, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences talked about the western culture and loneliness of elderly people in the west. He remarked that people get influenced by the western culture even without observing and experiencing it.

Guest of Honour, Mr. Samrat Bandopadhya, Civil Services Officer (Group-A), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India, started his address by quoting Swami Vivekananda, “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.”

He talked about social mobilization, IEC and leveraging the technology for parents and senior citizens.

The other guest of honour, Mr. Prem Poddar from HelpAge India talked about his NGO which was started in the year 1978. He told that HelpAge India works on 4 core programmes, including healthcare, age care and livelihoods, disaster response and advocacy and awareness. He stated that earlier the norm was ‘Working for Elders’, but now the motto is ‘Working with Elders’.

Earlier, Seminar Director, Prof. Naseem Ahmad Khan, Chairman, Department of Social Work welcomed the dignitaries, guests and delegates. He informed that around 300 participants are attending the seminar in offline and online mode.

Prof Anoop Kumar Bhartiya (Lucknow University) and Dr. Tadepally Nagendra Swamy (Telangana) graced the occasion as special guests.

A book of abstracts was released by the Vice-Chancellor and all the dignitaries.

The Vice-Chancellor also released the concept note of the book entitled ‘Socio-Behavioural Techno-Legal Media Dimension: A Managerial Bird’s Eye View’, co-authored by Mr. Samrat Bandopadhyay, Dr. Mohd Arif Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work and Mr. Abdur Rahman Mallick, YP-Law, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India.

Dr. Qurratul Aein Ali, Seminar Convener presented an overview of the seminar.

इसके अलावायूनानी फार्मेसी में डिप्लोमा और इंटर्नशिप पूरा करने के बाद कंपनी में शामिल होने के लिए सभी इच्छुक अंतिम वर्ष के छात्रों को खुली नौकरी की पेशकश की गई थी।

     The Centre for Promotion of Educational and Cultural Advancement of Muslims of India (CEPECAMI) organised a two-day workshop focusing on the pivotal role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in social work, with a special emphasis on education, health, women empowerment, and environmental conservation. Held at the JNMC auditorium from February 29 to March 1, the event drew representatives from NGOs, university officials, delegates, and prominent academicians. The workshop provided a platform for fruitful discussions, knowledge exchange, and the exploration of innovative solutions to address pressing social issues.

Mr.Naseem Ahmed Khan, Director of CEPECAMI, provided an overview of the organization's diverse activities aimed at uplifting the Muslim community. He elaborated on the workshop's aims and objectives, highlighting the significant contributions of NGOs to societal betterment. Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Vice-Chancellor of AMU, presided over the inaugural function, praising the immense contributions of NGOs to society.

Mr. Syed Zafar Mahmood, President of the Zakat Foundation of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He emphasised the importance of enabling youth, particularly women, to participate in competitive examinations and governance roles, drawing from the findings and recommendations of the Sachar Committee. Distinguished figures such as Dr. Geeta Bora, Mr. Farooq Siddiqui, and Dr. Tavishi Tewary adorned the session as guests of honour.

The workshop delved into the significant role of NGOs in uplifting marginalised sections, providing education, healthcare, government scheme benefits, and sustainable environmental conservation. Panel discussions provided a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities in these crucial sectors, highlighting the importance of collective action and the potential impact of NGOs on societal development.

The first technical session, chaired by Prof. Saud Alam Qasmi, featured a distinguished panel of speakers exploring various aspects of NGO involvement in social work. Speakers included Syed Tanweer Ahmad, Gyanendra Mishra, Dr. Mohsin Raza, Dr. Ambreen Jamali, Yogesh Bhatia, Dr. Faiza Abbasi, Prof. Abdul Matin, Prof. Naseeem Ahmad Khan, Javeed Mirza, and Dr. Saleem Mohammad, among others. Discussions ranged from educational initiatives and healthcare interventions to women's empowerment and environmental sustainability.

The workshop facilitated interaction between students and NGOs in the second technical session at the Arts Faculty Lounge. The third session, conducted online, featured distinguished speakers such as Dr. Jaya Singh, Ajay Kumar Sinha, Rajesh Jha, and Shantanu Ghosh, who discussed topics including child rights, digital media in education, environmental issues, and child education, offering valuable insights into these critical areas.

Mr. Sabahuddin, Assistant Director of CEPECAMI, extended a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all participants. Dr. Asfiya Karimi, Dr. Farheen Anjum, and Dr. Munazza Neyaz conducted the programme.auditorium

Dawakhana launches Sugar-Free Dimagheen

 Dawakhana Tibbiya College launches Sugar-Free Dimagheen 

Aligarh, March 2: Today, the Dawakhana Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University, introduced its latest product, Sugar-Free Dimagheen. The product was launched by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad  Gulrez, with the presence of Registrar Mr. Mohammad Imran, IPS, and the college's Occupier at the Conference Hall of the Administrative Block.

Prof. Gulrez praised the college team for their innovation in developing the new product, highlighting its significance in serving India's diabetic population.

Prof. Salma Ahmed, the Member-in-Charge, underscored the importance of Sugar-Free Dimagheen for diabetic individuals, noting that traditional Dimagheen contains sugar. Dawakhana Tibbiya College aims to cater to this demographic with their latest offering.

Mr. Mohd. Shariq Azam, serving as the Officiating General Manager, expressed confidence in the product's ability to enhance the college's revenue.

 

On this occasion students of Department of Business Administration, namely Ayesha Shamsi, Bharat Keshwani, Puru Yasharth, Kashif Nawaz Durrani, Kajal Nair and Chavi Garg, who had undertaken various projects for Dawakhana Tibbiya College were also felicitated.

The projects were on Study on Brand Recall of Dawakhana Tibbiya College, Developing Social Media presence for Dawakhana, Exploring possibility of Ready to Drink Sharbat-e-Nishat Afroz, DTC exploring possibility of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra in Agra, export of Nutraceuticals and Learnings from visit to Hamdard Laboratories, and visit to Himalaya Wellness Company.

The ceremony was attended by university officials and faculty, with Ms. Amreen Shakir and Idris Noori, Research Scholars from the Department of Business Administration, facilitating the proceedings.

 

“Environment, Development and Resources”

 

JMI’s Department of Geography organizes Extension Lecture on “Environment, Development and Resources” under Viksit Bharat campaign  

The Department of Geography, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), under the umbrella of Viksit Bharat initiative of Government of India, organized an extension lecture on “Environment, Development and Resources” by Prof. Mohammed Hashim Qureshi (Retd.), Centre for Study of Regional Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on 26th February, 2024. The lecture was a vibrant learning event to all the scholars and students. The event was attended by distinguished guests, eminent faculty members, research scholars and the students.

 

Prof. Haroon Sajjad, the Head of the Department of Geography welcomed the guest speaker, faculty members and all the students. The session was chaired by Prof. Lubna Siddiqui, Hony. Coordinator, NCC, JMI.

 

Prof. M.H. Qureshi began with introducing the concept and components of the environment. While delivering his lecture, he emphasized on the parameters of development and growth. He explained that development is unidirectional bearing a positive connotation whereas growth is both positive and negative in nature. He highlighted the paradigm shift from conservative to productive economy. Prof. Qureshi mentioned t how amazingly our body reflects the environment around us, as we are made up of soil, our body’s composition is 70% water, we have fire in our stomach for digestion, we breathe air and we have the Spirit (Aatma). He highlighted the level of technology and its role in economic development.

 

On further elaboration, Technology was divided into low level technology, which means it is accessible to all, e.g.- Spade, bicycle and dug well. The next level is Intermediary Technology, which includes tube wells, cars, and tractors. Then comes Highly Sophisticated Technology, which is affordable by only a small section of the society, which includes roadways, railways, i.e., the social control over resources. Prof. Qureshi asserted that sustainable development goals are not in a fixed state of harmony, rather in a process of change. While concluding his motivational talk, Prof. Qureshi left the gathering pondering on some unsolved questions like: Do we know the needs and wants of the future generations? Is the world culturally amorphous? Is the food basket the same world over? Towards the end of the lecture, he shared his invaluable experiences of life.

 

Prof. Lubna Siddiqui delivered her Presidential remarks. The lecture was followed by an interactive discussion wherein Prof. M.H. Qureshi interacted with Ph.D. scholars and students of the Department. The enlightening event was attended by Prof. Mohd. Ishtiaque, (Retd.) Prof. Atiqur Rahman, (Chief Proctor, Jamia Millia Islamia), Prof. Masood Ahsan, Prof. Lubna Siddiqui, (Hony. Coordinator, NCC), Prof. Taruna Bansal, Dr. Mohd. Afsar Alam, Dr. Hasan Raja Naqvi, Dr. Adnan Shakeel, Dr. Asif Ali and students. Dr. Ghazal Salahuddin, Incharge – extension lectures and webinars conducted the programme and Dr. Asif proposed a formal vote of thanks. The lecture ended on a positive note.

Self-financed B.Tech and M.Tech. in JMI

JMI introduces new self-financed programmes for B.Tech and M.Tech.

 

Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has announced the launch of several innovative self-financed programs in B.Tech and M.Tech for the academic year 2024-25. These programs are designed to provide students with advanced education, equip them with specialised skills, and prepare them for the evolving demands of the industry.

 

Among the new offerings are B.Tech in Electrical & Computer Engineering, B.Tech in Electronics (VLSI design and Technology), B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (Data Sciences), and M.Tech in Data Sciences. Applicants interested in the courses listed must fill a separate form available on the JMI website. Admission to the following B.Tech programmes will be based on the final ranking of the candidates in the JEE Mains.

 

Through a carefully crafted curriculum and hands-on learning experiences, students will explore a wide range of topics including circuit design, digital systems, computer architecture, software engineering, and more.

 

B.Tech program in Electrical and Computer Engineering The main objective of this course is to create qualified engineers who can improve the security and strength of computing systems, primarily in communications networks, and enhance the efficacy of cyber-physical systems like smart grid, autonomous mobile systems, industrial control systems etc.

B.Tech program in Electronics (VLSI Design and Technology) is designed and developed in a way to train students in this strategic domain and prepare them to accept the challenge of designing and manufacturing novel nanoelectronics devices and chips on Indian soil. The curriculum will be based on the requirements of the IC and chip design industries and will be on par with institutes of repute in India and abroad.

B.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering (Data Sciences) offers students a comprehensive curriculum covering key topics such as programming languages, algorithms, database systems, data mining, statistical analysis, and machine learning.

M.Tech in Data Sciences is a postgraduate program focused on advanced studies in Data Sciences, which combines elements of computer science, statistics, and domain-specific knowledge to extract insights and knowledge from data.

 

These self-financed programs are offered with an annual fee of Rs 1,50,000 for B.Tech and Rs 54,000 for M.Tech. Application form are available from 20.02.2024 at https://jmicoe.in

JMI organizes ‘BIOPHYSIKA- 2024’- National Conference on Recent Advancements in Biophysics and Structural Biology

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences (CIRBS), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has organized BIOPHYSIKA- 2024: National Conference on Recent Advancements in Biophysics and Structural Biology on February 28th, 2024. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Eqbal Hussain, Officiating Vice Chancellor, JMI. During his presidential speech Prof. Eqbal Hussain highlighted the contribution of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Science in the ranking of the university as evident from NIRF ranking and NAAC accreditation. He congratulated the science community on the Science Day and wished that more C.V. Raman may come out from Ramanujan Block, JMI where the Centre is situated.

The Centre felicitated its former Director, Prof. Faizan Ahmad, for his huge contribution in providing focussed approach to the Centre and encouraging faculty members to prioritise research that helped the Centre to become epitome of science at JMI.

Prof. Zahid Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, highlighted that the Centre is performing extra ordinary and providing excellent results under the directorship of Professor Rajan Patel. Professor Rajan Patel thanked the vice chancellor for encouraging the activities of the Centre. The Centre was able to introduce a new program, B.Sc. (Life Sciences) with Computer Application, in the session, 2024-2025, only due to active support of JMI Vice Chancellor and the Registrar.

Prof. Patel informed that this conference is organised by the students of M.Sc. Biophysics, which is ninth in the continuation. Professor Md. Imtaiyaz Hassan delivered the vote of thanks.

Prof. Madan Rao, National Centre for Biological Sciences-TIFR Bangalore, president, Indian Biophysical Society, was the guest of honour. He highlighted the role of physics in life sciences, in general, and in biophysics, in particular.

The Conference was a grand event for young minds and budding scientists as eminent speakers and scientists from Pan-India, were present. Various scientists from Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad, National Centre for Cell Science, Pune, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, University of Kashmir, Srinagar, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, Manipur University, Imphal, Central University of Rajasthan, Ajmer, enriched the conference with science, technology and cutting-edge research in the field of biophysics.

The conference was attended by more than 300 delegates from various parts of the country. More than 100 abstracts were published in the proceeding, which were presented as posters and oral talks in the afternoon. Various poster and oral talk awards were distributed in the valedictory session.

Workshop "Career Opportunities in Cyber Security" held

Aligarh, March 1: With the aim of providing students with insights into contemporary technology and corporate trends while guiding them toward promising career paths, the Department of Computer Science at Aligarh Muslim University organized a one-day workshop on "Career Opportunities in Cyber Security" on February 29,  in the department's Conference Hall. The event targeted students pursuing MCA, M.Sc in Cyber Security & Digital Forensics, and final-year B.Sc in Computer Application. The interactive nature of the session facilitated active engagement from students, allowing them to delve deeper into the realm of cybersecurity.

Mr. Shabbir Ali Imtiyaz, a professional currently employed at McDERMOTT in Gurgaon, was invited to share his extensive expertise in the field of cybersecurity. During the workshop, Mr. Shabbir shed light on various crucial topics, including the escalating demand for cybersecurity professionals, diverse career paths within the cybersecurity domain, essential skills and qualifications required for a successful career, and insights into the life of a cybersecurity professional.

Professor Arman Rasool Faridi, the Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science, appreciated Mr. Shabbir for his insightful session, emphasizing the relevance of organizing such seminars to provide students with a clear understanding of future prospects and career opportunities in the IT industry, particularly in cybersecurity roles.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Faraz Masood and hosted by Ms. Manya Chaudhary, received favorable responses from students. Additionally, Dr. Faisal and Dr. Mohammad Nadeem made significant contributions to the workshop.
