National Art Exhibition Concludes at AMU Art Gallery (2)

ALIGARH, May 21: The seven-day National Art Exhiition, Fragments of Epiphany, concluded at the Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery, Aligarh Muslim University, after bringing together artists, academicians and art institutions from across the country.

Curator and Gallery Coordinator Prof. Badar Jahan said the exhibition aimed to create a space for artistic exchange, inspiration and critical engagement.

She added that the exhibition featured artworks, panel discussions, workshops and performances exploring contemporary artistic practices, politics in art and the role of AI and technology in creative expression. Sessions by Bihan Das and Shamim Akhtar Khan particularly attracted attention for their discussions on contemporary art and curatorial practices.

At the closing ceremony, six artworks were selected for the Best Artwork Awards by the jury comprising Prof. Him Kumar Chatterjee and Prof. Rajan Shripad Fulari. The awardees included Ananya Gupta of Kurukshetra University for her painting Self; Aswin Sathian of Government College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, for Decoration of Terrain-4; Mohammad Riyaz of Government Fine Art College, Gwalior, for Itminan; Rajani Arya of Mathura for Hyperbolic Rhythm of Ocean; Masarrat Asrari of AMU for the installation The Conflict Within; and Aryan Pratap Singh of AMU for the performance Khusro Se Eik Mulaqaat.

The exhibition concluded with a musical performance by AMU students, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the closing ceremony.

Earlier, the exhibition was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon in the presence of Prof. Him Kumar Chatterjee and Prof. Rajan Shripad Fulari.
