AMU Faculty of Unani Medicine Organises Industrial Visit to Hamdard Laboratories

ALIGARH, May 13: The Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, organised a one-day industrial visit for postgraduate scholars to the manufacturing unit of Hamdard Laboratories under the aegis of the Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (RIED) Cell.

Sponsored by Hamdard Laboratories India, the visit aimed to provide practical exposure to modern pharmaceutical practices in Unani medicine and strengthen industry-academia collaboration. Thirty postgraduate scholars participated in the programme along with faculty members Dr Qazi Zaid Ahmad, Dr Aziz ur Rahman and Dr Sumbul Rahman.

Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Prof S. M. Ashraf encouraged the scholars to actively engage with experts and understand the growing integration of traditional medicine with modern industrial practices.

At the Hamdard facility, the delegation was welcomed by Mr Inam Ali, DGM (HR), and Dr Santosh Kumar Joshi, Senior GM (R&D), who guided participants through the research and manufacturing units. Scholars observed processes related to formulation development, quality control, standardisation and large-scale production of Unani medicines under GMP guidelines.

The visit also included an interactive session with Mr Shamshad Ali, Chief Production and Project Officer, Mr Inam Ali and Dr Santosh Kumar Joshi, who highlighted opportunities in research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the Unani pharmaceutical sector.

The programme was coordinated by Mr Danish, Administrative Officer, with support from Dr Sagheer Ahmad Khan, Manager (R&D) and Dr Arvind Kumar Tripathi, Quality Control Manager.
