Eco Fiesta 2026 Concludes at AMU with Eco Walk, Competitions and Cultural Evening

Eco Fiesta 2026 Concludes at AMU with Eco Walk, Competitions and Cultural Evening

ALIGARH, May 7: Eco Fiesta 2026, a two-day environmental awareness and sustainability festival organised under the aegis of the University Eco Club, Cultural Education Centre (CEC), Aligarh Muslim University, concluded with a series of awareness activities, competitions and a cultural evening aimed at promoting environmental consciousness among students.

The concluding day began with an Eco Walk from the Eco Club to M.M. Hall and back, flagged off by Registrar Prof Aasim Zafar. Faculty members including Prof Satish Kumar, Chairman, Department of Wildlife Science, Dr Kaleem Ahmad, Dr Ahmad Masood Khan, and Eco Club mentors Dr Sharad Kumar and Dr Ayaz Ahmed participated in the programme along with students and volunteers.

A workshop on the “Best Use of Waste Material” was later organised at the CEC Complex, where resource person Ms Nazia Begum demonstrated techniques of waste utilisation and upcycling, highlighting sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.

The festival also featured an Environmental Quiz supervised by Amir Jilani, while poster-making and slogan-writing competitions were coordinated by Md Anas Bin Ehasan and Sara Mustafa. The competitions were judged by Prof Orus Ilyas, President of the University Eco Club, and mentor Dr Sharad Kumar.

The valedictory and felicitation session recognised the contributions of participants, volunteers and winners of various competitions. The concluding ceremony was conducted by Prof Orus Ilyas, Mr Abdur Rahman, Secretary of the Eco Club, and mentors Dr Sharad Kumar and Dr Ayaz Ahmed.

The festival concluded with a cultural evening featuring performances by the University Western Music Club. The participating artists were felicitated during the programme.

Earlier, the inaugural session of the festival was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof Naima Khatoon, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Mohd Mohsin Khan, Commissioner, Aligarh Division, Ms Sangeeta Singh, IAS, and Prof Mohammad Rizwan Khan, Coordinator, CEC.
