JNMC Department of Medicine Hosts ICP Academic Outreach Programme in Collaboration with Indian College of Physicians

The Department of Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University, organized an engaging Academic Outreach Activity in collaboration with the Indian College of Physicians (ICP), the academic wing of the Association of Physicians of India. The Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme, held at the Department’s Seminar Room, witnessed enthusiastic participation from postgraduate students, faculty members, and medical professionals from various disciplines.

The programme was graced by Prof. Mohd. Khalid, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Nayyar Asif, Chief Medical Superintendent, JN Medical College Hospital, whose presence reflected the institution’s continued emphasis on academic advancement and excellence in healthcare education.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Khwaja Saifullah Zafar, Chairman, Department of Medicine and Organizing Secretary of the programme, highlighted the growing importance of continuous medical education in equipping healthcare professionals with updated clinical knowledge and evolving treatment practices. He observed that collaborative academic initiatives with reputed national bodies such as the Indian College of Physicians significantly strengthen evidence-based medical practice and improve patient care outcomes.

The two-hour academic session featured a series of expert lectures on contemporary medical issues. Prof. Mohd. Aslam delivered a detailed presentation on “Hypersensitivity and Disease,” while Prof. Anjum Mirza Chughtai, retired Professor of Medicine, spoke on “Thyroid Disorders in Pregnancy.” Prof. Jamal Ahmad, former Dean, Faculty of Medicine, discussed “Recent Trends in the Management of Diabetes,” and Prof. A.K. Gupta, retired faculty member of SN Medical College, Agra, delivered an insightful lecture on “Bisoprolol: An Emerging Molecule.” The sessions were followed by interactive discussions, enabling participants to engage directly with the experts.

Dr. M. Uwais Ashraf, Co-organizing Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the distinguished speakers, dignitaries, participants, and organizing team for the successful conduct of the programme.

The event concluded with a lunch hosted at AMU Guest House No. 1, fostering further academic interaction and professional networking among participants.
