AMU Professor Appointed Estate Officer under Public Premises Act
ALIGARH, May 6: Prof Md Zafar Mahfooz Nomani of the Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, has been appointed Estate Officer (Gazetted) under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971, for a period of three years with effect from February 17, 2025.
The appointment has been made by the Government of India, Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, empowering him to exercise powers and perform duties under the Act in respect of public premises belonging to or leased by AMU within Aligarh district.
Prof Nomani, former Dean, Faculty of Law and currently Chairman, Department of Law, has over three decades of teaching and research experience in areas including Environmental and Health Law and Intellectual Property Rights. He has authored several books and research papers and has supervised doctoral and postgraduate research.
He has been recognised among Elsevier’s Top 2% Researchers and has received various academic distinctions, including awards for research in environmental law and legal scholarship.
