AMU Scholar Awarded Prestigious ICSSR Senior Fellowship

ALIGARH, February 10: Dr Nizamuddin Khan, former Chairman, Department of Geography and presently associated as a researcher with the Interdisciplinary Department of Remote Sensing and GIS Applications at Aligarh Muslim University, has been awarded the Senior Fellowship by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) for the academic year 2025–26, marking a significant academic distinction for the University.

Dr Khan will undertake a two-year research project titled “Impact Assessment of Rural Markets on Socio-Economic Transformation of Rural Population in Aligarh District: Using Geospatial Technologies.” The study aims to analyse the role of rural markets in socio-economic change through advanced geospatial tools and methodologies.

The fellowship carries a monthly stipend of ₹45,000 and is granted under the ICSSR’s Senior Fellowship scheme, which supports high-quality social science research of national relevance.
