ICAI, AMU Concludes Two-Week FDP on AI for Sustainable Development

         The Interdisciplinary Centre for Artificial Intelligence (ICAI), Aligarh Muslim University, successfully concluded a two-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “AI for All: Interdisciplinary Solutions to Real-World Problems for Sustainable Development,” held from January 28 to February 10 as a pre-summit event of the AI Impact Summit 2026 under the IndiaAI Mission.

The programme featured 20 expert-led sessions designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, progressing from foundational concepts to advanced areas such as Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Transformer Architectures, Natural Language Processing, Prompt Engineering and Multimodal AI. Equal emphasis was laid on ethical considerations, societal impact and the responsible deployment of AI systems in the context of sustainable development.

Faculty members and research scholars from diverse disciplines, including Political Science, Education, Remote Sensing, Electrical Engineering and Medicine, participated in the FDP, reflecting its interdisciplinary orientation. Interactive lectures and hands-on sessions enabled participants to explore contemporary AI tools and methodologies relevant to teaching, research and innovation.

A 20-question assessment test was conducted at the conclusion of the programme. The valedictory session was attended by Prof M. M. Sufyan Beg, Prof Arman Rasool Faridi, Prof Rashid Ali, Dr Nadeem Akhtar, Dr Tameem Ahmad and Dr Asraful Haque, and was conducted by Ms Aysha Khan.
