 AMU Department of Social Work Secures 12th Rank Nationally in Outlook-ICARE Rankings 2026

Aligarh, August 19: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has added another significant achievement to its growing record of academic excellence and societal impact, with the Department of Social Work securing 12th rank nationally among India’s Top 35 Social Work Institutes in the prestigious Outlook-ICARE Rankings 2026.

The recognition reflects AMU’s sustained commitment to advancing education, research, and community engagement while reaffirming the university's broader mission of using knowledge and academic expertise to serve society and contribute to the welfare of humankind.

The annual Outlook-ICARE assessment evaluates institutions on key parameters, including academic and research excellence, diversity and outreach, governance, infrastructure, and industry interface. AMU’s Department of Social Work performed strongly across these parameters, underscoring its emphasis on contemporary social work education, field-based learning, grassroots research, professional training, and strong placement outcomes.

The achievement assumes special significance as social work education at AMU goes beyond the classroom, equipping students to understand and respond to pressing social challenges through community-based interventions, awareness programs, research, and public welfare initiatives. Its sustained engagement with communities reflects the university's commitment to inclusive development, social justice, and human dignity.

University authorities congratulated the faculty, researchers, students, administrative staff, and alumni of the department, observing that the ranking is a recognition of their collective dedication and the department’s enduring contribution to society.

Chairperson Prof. Ikram Hussain and senior faculty member Dr Mohammad Tahir acknowledged the commitment of the teaching faculty, staff, students, and alumni in strengthening the department’s academic and social outreach.

            अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय ने शैक्षणिक उत्कृष्टता और सामाजिक सरोकारों के क्षेत्र में एक और महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि हासिल की है। विश्वविद्यालय के सोशल वर्क विभाग को प्रतिष्ठित आउटलुक-आईकेयर रैंकिंग 2026 में देश के शीर्ष 35 सोशल वर्क संस्थानों में 12वां स्थान प्राप्त हुआ है।

यह उपलब्धि शिक्षा, शोध और सामुदायिक सहभागिता को बढ़ावा देने के लिए एएमयू की निरंतर प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाती है। यह विश्वविद्यालय के उस व्यापक उद्देश्य को भी मजबूत करती है, जिसके तहत ज्ञान और शैक्षणिक विशेषज्ञता के माध्यम से समाज की सेवा और मानव कल्याण में योगदान दिया जाता है।

वार्षिक आउटलुक-आईकेयर मूल्यांकन में शैक्षणिक एवं शोध उत्कृष्टता, विविधता एवं जनसंपर्क, प्रशासन, आधारभूत सुविधाओं और उद्योगों के साथ जुड़ाव जैसे विभिन्न मानकों के आधार पर संस्थानों का मूल्यांकन किया जाता है। एएमयू के सोशल वर्क विभाग ने इन मानकों पर बेहतर प्रदर्शन किया है। विभाग में आधुनिक सामाजिक कार्य शिक्षा, क्षेत्र आधारित प्रशिक्षण, जमीनी स्तर पर शोध, व्यावसायिक प्रशिक्षण और बेहतर रोजगार अवसरों पर विशेष जोर दिया जाता है।

यह उपलब्धि इसलिए भी महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि एएमयू में सामाजिक कार्य की शिक्षा केवल कक्षा तक सीमित नहीं है। विद्यार्थियों को सामुदायिक स्तर पर कार्य करने, सामाजिक समस्याओं को समझने और उनके समाधान के लिए जागरूकता कार्यक्रमों, शोध तथा जनकल्याणकारी गतिविधियों में भाग लेने के अवसर दिए जाते हैं। समुदायों के साथ विभाग का निरंतर जुड़ाव समावेशी विकास, सामाजिक न्याय और मानवीय गरिमा के प्रति विश्वविद्यालय की प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाता है।

विश्वविद्यालय प्रशासन ने विभाग के शिक्षकों, शोधार्थियों, विद्यार्थियों, कर्मचारियों और पूर्व छात्रों को इस उपलब्धि पर बधाई दी और कहा कि यह रैंकिंग उनके सामूहिक समर्पण तथा समाज के प्रति विभाग के निरंतर योगदान की पहचान है।

विभागाध्यक्ष प्रो. इकराम हुसैन और वरिष्ठ शिक्षक डॉ. मोहम्मद ताहिर ने विभाग की शैक्षणिक गतिविधियों और सामाजिक पहुंच को मजबूत करने में शिक्षकों, कर्मचारियों, विद्यार्थियों और पूर्व छात्रों के योगदान की सराहना की।
