NSS Organises Plantation Drive at S.N. Hall Under Mission LiFE Campaign

ALIGARH, May 30: The National Service Scheme (NSS), in collaboration with S.N. Hall, Aligarh Muslim University, organised a plantation drive as a pre-campaign activity under Mission LiFE to mark World Environment Day 2026.

The programme was held under the leadership of Provost, S.N. Hall, Prof. Orus Ilyas, and aimed at promoting environmental conservation, sustainable living and increased green cover for a healthier future.

Among those present were Acting NSS Coordinator Dr. Abdul Jabbar, Programme Officers Ms. Nazia Begum, Mr. Naeem Ahmad, Dr. Zafar and Dr. Nahid Akbari, along with wardens Dr. Mohd Aslam, Dr. Ruquiya Afrose, Ms. Varisha and Ms. Aimen Faheem.

Addressing the participants, Prof. Orus Ilyas and NSS functionaries highlighted the need to reduce pollution, conserve natural resources and adopt environmentally responsible practices in daily life. They also encouraged the use of eco-friendly alternatives to plastic, including jute and cotton bags.

As part of the campaign, saplings were planted within the hall premises and cotton and jute bags were distributed among passersby to spread awareness about sustainable living. NSS volunteers and students actively participated in the programme, which conveyed the message: Plant More Trees, Reduce Pollution, and Create a Safer Future.
