AMU Faculty of Unani Medicine Hosts 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi Celebration on the Theme “Mercy to All the World” (2)
The Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), hosted the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebration with the inspiring theme “Mercy to All the World.” The event reflected on the timeless message of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), whose teachings continue to offer guidance for peace, compassion, and harmony in the modern world.
Delivering the Chief Guest’s address, Prof. Qayyum Hussain, Former Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Srinagar, drew attention to the Quranic attributes Al-Rehman and Ar-Raheem—appearing more than 300 times—which signify Islam’s deep emphasis on mercy towards humanity.
Presiding over the event, Prof. Mohd Gulrez, Former Vice Chancellor of AMU, called for embodying mercy in daily life as guided by the Prophet (PBUH). He highlighted the Prophet’s vision of environmental stewardship—planting trees, conserving water, avoiding waste, and showing kindness to animals—as central to Islamic values of sustainability and compassion
In his welcome address, Prof. S.M. Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, highlighted the enduring relevance of the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings even after 1500 years. He remarked that the Prophet’s universal message of peace, justice, equality, and compassion is a beacon of hope in times of conflict and division.
The gathering was further enriched by a soulful naat from Syed Rahbar Ali, leading to the keynote address delivered by Hazrat Allama Atif Miyan Qadri Azhari, Sajjadah Nasheen, Khanqah Badaun (U.P.). He urged the audience to strengthen their faith (imaan) and embody the Prophet’s (PBUH) universal message of mercy. He emphasized that the Prophet’s call for charity combats poverty, his teachings on women’s dignity inspire gender equality, his insistence on honesty curbs corruption, and his care for nature fosters environmental responsibility.
Prof. Aasim Zafar, OSD (Development), AMU, in his address as Guest of Honour, stressed that true success lies in integrating the Prophet’s (PBUH) values into everyday life.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. B.D. Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College. The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Ahmad Mujtaba Siddiqui, President, Short Evening Courses, AMU.
The gathering ended with the Prophetic Anthem (Salat o Salam) and dua (prayer), leaving the participants spiritually enriched and inspired by the eternal message of peace, compassion, and mercy.
Mohd Furqan Qadri rendered naat in his soulful voice.
