Professor Vibha Sharma, Department of
English has joined as the new Member Incharge (MIC) of the Public Relations
Office, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
A visiting faculty to Stockholm
University, Stockholm, Sweden, to teach Postcolonial Theatre and English
Studies since 2013, Prof Sharma has over two decades of teaching and research
experience and has served in various capacities during the long span of her
service at AMU.
Her scholarly work spans several fields,
including Postcolonial Studies, Modern Drama, Literary Theory, and
Environmental Humanities. She has a MOOC Course titled “Studies in Theatre” on
UGC SWAYAM Portal.
Professor Sharma’s research focuses on
the intersections of culture, performance, and identity in postcolonial
contexts, particularly through Indian literature and theatre. Professor Sharma
has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences,
contributing significantly to discussions on postcolonialism and feminist
performance theory.
In addition to her extensive research
publications, she has edited and authored books on Indian literature and
theatre, including Amir Khusrau: A Postcolonial Reading and Reading Shaw’s
Plays: A Freudian Way.
Professor Sharma has also been
instrumental in developing and designing the Department’s syllabus and
curriculum, introducing innovative courses and pedagogical practices. Her
leadership roles include mentoring the University Drama Club and contributing
to numerous academic and cultural initiatives.
