AMU Malappuram Centre Organises Legal Awareness Camps in Bihar
ALIGARH, July 4: The Legal Aid Cell of the Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University Malappuram Centre, Kerala, launched a five-day Legal Awareness Campaign across the Purnia and Araria districts of Bihar from June 28 to July 2 in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) of Purnia and Araria.
Eight legal awareness camps, four in each district, were conducted to promote legal literacy among people in underserved communities. The campaign was inaugurated by Shri Ghulam Sarwar, MLA (Baisi), at Chatra, Dagarua, Purnia, and concluded at Pothia Panchayat Bhawan, Jalalgarh, Araria, in the presence of Shri Amitabh Siddarth Amitabh, District Prosecution Officer, Araria.
Led by Md. Najeeb Alam, a student of AMU Centre, Malappuram, the campaign was supported by Danish Khurshid, Md. Aftab Alam, Abidulla, and Javeriya Tanveer. Awareness sessions covered legal rights relating to FIRs, free legal aid, the Right to Information Act, cyber fraud, drug abuse, and land mutation and Jamabandi-related issues.
The programme was organised under the patronage of Prof. M. Shahul Hameed, Director, with the guidance of Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmed Malik, Course Coordinator, and Dr.Naseema P.K., Chairperson of the Legal Aid Cell. Teacher InchargesDr. Azmat Ali, Dr.Shally Victor, and Dr.Deeba Khanam also extended their support to the initiative.
Prof. Mohammad Tariq, Coordinator, AMU Centres, congratulated the organising team and expressed hope that the Centres would continue to undertake such community outreach programmes in the future.
