AMU Inaugurates National Book Trust Mobile Library Van at Maulana Azad Library

ALIGARH, July 14: Aligarh Muslim University today inaugurated the National Book Trust (NBT) Mobile Book Exhibition at the Maulana Azad Library, bringing a rich collection of books from diverse disciplines to the University's academic community. The initiative, organised by the National Book Trust, India, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, aims to promote reading habits and make quality publications easily accessible to students, scholars, and faculty members.

The Mobile Book Exhibition was jointly inaugurated by Prof. Mohammad Rizwan Khan, Dean, Faculty of Arts, and Prof. Nishat Fatima, University Librarian. Among those present on the occasion were Prof. Vibha Sharma, Member In-charge, Public Relations Office; Prof. Iffat Asghar (Department of Hindi), Deputy Proctor; Dr.Habibur Rahman, Dr. Monawwer Eqbal Deputy librarians, assistant librarians, library professionals, faculty members, and students.

The exhibition featured an extensive collection of books on literature, science, social sciences, history, biographies, children's literature, and several other subjects in Hindi, Urdu, and English.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mohammad Rizwan Khan said that such exhibitions play an important role in cultivating reading habits, broadening intellectual horizons, and encouraging lifelong learning among students and researchers.

Prof. Nishat Fatima appreciated the National Book Trust's initiative of taking books directly to educational institutions through the Mobile Library Van. She observed that the programme would help strengthen the reading culture and improve access to quality books for learners of all age groups.

The exhibition attracted a large number of faculty members, librarians, research scholars, and students, who enthusiastically explored the collection and showed keen interest in the latest academic and general-interest publications available at concessional prices.
