CDOE-AMU Organises Invited Talk on Online Education, Leadership and AI Integration
Aligarh, September 26: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised an invited talk on “Indian Market for Online Education, Preparation for Leadership in Market and AI Integration” on September 26, bringing together faculty members and academic professionals to reflect on the rapidly evolving landscape of online education and the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education.
The programme focused on emerging opportunities and challenges in India’s online education sector, with particular emphasis on institutional preparedness, leadership, quality assurance and the integration of AI into teaching-learning and academic processes.
The invited talk was delivered by Prof. Ahrar Husain, Member, Appellate Committee, Distance Education Bureau (DEB), University Grants Commission (UGC). An experienced academic and higher-education professional, Prof. Husain has served as Former Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, and has also contributed as a Member of the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA), CDOE, AMU.
In his welcome address, Prof. Ekram Khan, Director, CDOE, AMU, highlighted the growing role of online education in widening access to quality higher education. He emphasised the need for institutions to remain responsive to technological advancements, evolving learner expectations and the changing requirements of the digital education ecosystem.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Ahrar Husain offered valuable insights into the expanding Indian market for online education and stressed the importance of strategic institutional preparedness to harness emerging opportunities. He highlighted the increasing role of AI in teaching-learning, student support services, academic administration and educational content development, while also discussing quality assurance, regulatory requirements and institutional readiness in the evolving Open, Distance and Online Learning landscape.
The interactive academic engagement provided faculty members and academic professionals an opportunity to examine contemporary trends in online education and deliberate on how technological advancements and responsible AI integration can contribute to more accessible, responsive and quality-oriented higher education.
Dr Seema Khan compered the programme and conducted the proceedings, while Dr Md. Ashyam proposed the vote of thanks.
