Prof. Zaki Anwar Siddiqui felicitated by National Academy of Agricultural Sciences being elected fellow of the academy
ALIGARH, June 6: Prof. Zaki Anwar Siddiqui, Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University, has been elected Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi, one of the country's highest professional honours in agricultural sciences.
The Fellowship Certificate was conferred upon him by Dr. M. L. Jat, President, NAAS, Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Government of India, during the 33rd Annual General Meeting and Foundation Day programme of the Academy in New Delhi.
An internationally recognised plant pathologist, Prof. Siddiqui is known for his pioneering research on plant-parasitic nematodes and sustainable disease-management strategies for crop protection. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has published over 170 research papers, edited two books published by Springer Nature, and led several major research projects funded by national agencies.
A distinguished alumnus of AMU, Prof. Siddiqui joined the Department of Botany in 1996 and became Professor in 2012. He is also a Fellow of the Indian Botanical Society and the Indian Phytopathological Society and has served as a Visiting Professor at Kyoto University, Japan.
His election as a Fellow of NAAS marks a significant recognition of his contributions to agricultural and plant sciences and brings honour to Aligarh Muslim University.
