AMU Researcher Receives International Award for Cancer Research
ALIGARH, June 4:Dr. Ammar Khalid, Senior Resident in the Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, has received the Division for Drug Discovery and Development Poster Award in the Postdoctoral Scientist category at the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), a leading international organisation in pharmacology.
He was honoured for his research poster, Carvacrol Synergizes with Adapalene to Enhance Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Inhibition and Mitigates Hepatotoxicity, which explored a novel strategy to improve cancer treatment while reducing toxicity.
The research was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Waseem Rizvi, Department of Pharmacology, JNMC, in collaboration with Prof. Mohammad Owais, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, AMU. Dr. Khalid was also selected for the ASPET International Travel Award in recognition of the scientific merit of his work.
Congratulating him, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman said the achievement reflects AMU’s growing contribution to high-quality biomedical research and innovative therapeutic development.
