Prof. M.J. Warsi Receives ‘Linguist of the Year Award-2025’

ALIGARH, June 22: Prof. Mohammad Jahangeer Warsi, Chairperson, Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University, has been conferred the Linguist of the Year Award-2025 by the Punjabi Linguistics Association during the 53rd All India Conference of Dravidian Linguists (AICDL) held at Punjabi University, Patiala, from June 18 to 20.

The conference was attended by members of the Department of Linguistics, including Prof Warsi and Mr. Manzoor Ahmad, research scholar, who also presented his paper titled, From Chalkboards to Chatbots: Artificial Intelligence in English Language Teaching.

The award was presented in recognition of Prof. Warsi's outstanding contributions to the field of Applied Linguistics and his sustained efforts in advancing linguistic research and scholarship.

A distinguished linguist and educator, Prof. Warsi has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and academic leadership. He has served at renowned international institutions, and has received several awards.
