 AMU Faculty Member Delivers Lectures at ICSSR-Sponsored Research Methodology Course

ALIGARH, June 17: Prof. Shah Alam, Chairman, Department of Psychology, Aligarh Muslim University, participated as Guest of Honour and Resource Person in a ten-day Research Methodology Course on “Mental Health and Social Inclusion” organized by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, with support from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Prof. Alam conducted two technical sessions on Recent Advancements in Mental Health Research, highlighting emerging trends, technological innovations, and contemporary approaches to mental health promotion and intervention. He emphasized the growing importance of mental health as a public health concern and stressed the need for scientifically rigorous and socially relevant research.

Addressing participants, including postgraduate students, research scholars, post-doctoral fellows, and academicians from across the country, he discussed the impact of academic pressure, unemployment, social media engagement, family conflict, substance abuse, and socio-economic inequalities on mental well-being, particularly among young people.

Prof. Alam also underscored the importance of preventive mental health initiatives, early identification of psychological difficulties, accessible counselling services, and evidence-based research to address contemporary mental health challenges.
