AMU’s Prof. Absar Ahmad Honoured with Dual Lifetime Achievement Awards by Mycological Society of India

ALIGARH, November 29: Prof. Absar Ahmad, Director of the Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been selected for two prestigious honours by the Mycological Society of India (MSI) for 2026: the MSI Lifetime Achievement Award and the Prof. K. R. Aneja Award for Lifetime Achievement.

The society unanimously approved the awards in recognition of Prof. Ahmad’s outstanding contributions to fungal biology, bioprospecting, and nanobiotechnology. MSI noted that his pioneering work, particularly in fungus-mediated nanoparticle synthesis, has significantly advanced research in green nanotechnology and biomedical applications.

Prof. Ahmad is widely acknowledged for his extensive publications, international collaborations, and mentorship of numerous doctoral scholars.

The awards will be presented at MSI’s 53rd Annual Meeting, to be hosted by Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu, in 2026.
