Dr. Z A Dental College, AMU Welcomes New BDS Batch with Orientation-cum-Anti-Ragging Programme
Aligarh, December 6: Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College (Dr. ZADC), Aligarh Muslim University, organized an Orientation-cum-Anti-Ragging Programme to welcome the newly admitted BDS First-Year students and guide them through the institution’s academic expectations, code of conduct, and professional responsibilities.
The programme began with a welcome by Dr. Syed Amaan Ali, setting an encouraging tone for the session. Faculty introductions were conducted by Dr. Atif, enabling new students to connect with their future mentors. Dr. Juhi Gupta addressed the students on the guidelines of the Dental Council of India and highlighted the ethical and professional responsibilities required of dental graduates. Students also introduced themselves, marking their first formal engagement with the college community.
A session led by Dr. Sabzar Abdullah emphasized safety protocols in dental clinics, particularly patient care and occupational safety standards.
The Anti-Ragging Committee, comprising Prof. Geeta Rajput, Dr. Saba Khan, and Dr. Nasir Salati conducted a dedicated workshop to reinforce a culture of respect and safety. Guest speaker Prof. Sanjay Singh, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Jamia Millia Islamia, delivered an address on ragging laws, consequences, and student rights, highlighting that ragging is strictly punishable and will not be tolerated.
A powerful Anti-Ragging skit by BDS second-year students and a lively Q&A session encouraged dialogue and clarity on student protection measures.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of Dr. ZADC’s commitment to academic excellence, ethical conduct, and a supportive learning environment for all students.
