Civil Engineering awarded NBCC funded research project worth Rs. 1.53 crore

 Faculty from JMI's Department of Civil Engineering awarded NBCC funded research project worth Rs. 1.53 crore

 The NBCC (India) Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Government of India awarded a research project of Rs. 1.53 Crore to the Department of Civil Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia. The project involves research on high performance concrete using advanced materials including nano cement and nano additives. The project will be carried out by Dr. Ibadur Rahman and Dr. M. Amir Mazhar. Dr. Rahman is the Principal Investigator of the project who already has a number of patents in the area of advanced cement and concrete technology.

The project was conceptualized under the guidance of Prof. Farhan A. Kidwai and Prof. Quamrul Hassan, the Head, Department of Civil Engineering. Prof. Hassan sincerely expressed thanks and gratitude to the visionary Vice Chancellor, Prof Mazhar Asif and dynamic Registrar Prof. Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi for creating a very conducive ecosystem for promotion of research in the University.

The project seeks to generate industry-ready solutions that can be adopted in large-scale infrastructure works across the country. This initiative aligns with NBCC’s and JMI’s shared vision of promoting cutting-edge, application-oriented research to address India’s critical infrastructure and sustainability challenges.

The Head, Department of Civil Engineering commented that the Department is honored to receive this project support from NBCC (India) Limited. It represents a significant opportunity to translate advances in nano-materials into tangible improvements in concrete technology and sustainability.
